When I started at AT&T all telecommunications were analog. The guys with the most overtime were teletype repairman.
I am still amazed from time to time when I get a receipt from the gas pump or a cash register. No keys print it. Just ink
sprayed into a magnetic field. WTF ? PFM !

RECEIPTS : Wife never keeps them ! Went to exchange bed sheets for different color. Found those $59 were on sale for $29.
Only color left was one she wanted to exchange. SCREWED AGAIN !
Founds other brand for $59 ( coincidence) and headed to register with other purchases. Wife knew we were out of luck,
when returns scanned at $29. But cashier asked if we had bought them on sale. Wife sighed ,she had paid full price,
Cashier asked if she had same credit card with her. Josie did and cashier hit a key, scanned credit card, and whammo.
$59 credit.
Am I the only one unaware this could be done ???

I had a similar experience recently.

The personal privacy nuts would be against the type of data capture that enabled that $59 credit.
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

I ain't exactly fond of this data capture myself. I try and pay cash when possible. Just because I am paranoid , does not mean somebody is not out to get me.
