I have a suggestion for a small change in the online blackjack game: include an option to turn off the card totals. I am practicing blackjack as we take frequent cruises and I would like to be able to take more advantage of the casinos. I have spent hours playing online blackjack. When I had occasion recently to play my first real blackjack game, to my chagrin, I found that I had been depending totally on the card totals that are displayed in all the online games, and on the fly and under pressure, I was having to sit and count my fingers under the table before I could make a decision on how to play my cards. I know that after a lot of live practice, I will be able to see the cards and know the total instantly, but in the meantime, for practice sake, it would be helpful to have the option to turn off the totals in your game so we can practice learning the totals ourselves. (It doesn't help to try not to look at them - you can't really help it).
Thanks so much for an awesome site and lots of good advice. It's been extremely helpful and informative!!

concur, but I have found dealers will confirm the count or even constantly count. Maybe I shouldnt expect that every time, eh?
seems that the "are you sure you want to" feature could be turned off too, when desired.

I'm not even talking about card counting. I'm talking about seeing a 2, 5, 4, 7 and having it instantly register as an 18 without having to spend time adding the numbers in my brain (under pressure). I'm talking from the standpoint of a rank beginner here.

sorry, I didn't mean "the count" but just what you are talking about instead. Dealers have so often just given this total for players I just expect it now!

When it happens to me, I just ask the dealer.

Hell, I sometimes have a hard time adding THREE cards.
Yeah, turning off the hand totals is a nice idea. Perhaps even put it on a time delay.
Usually, dealers will volunteer the total as soon as they realize that the gambler has brain freeze. They see it often enough to know how often it happens!
