No.

It's spam. User is nuked. Don't click the link.Quote: ThatDonGuyI just got two spam PMs from "Ashley01." How should I report this sort of thing? Should I PM somebody?

The easiest way may be to PM a moderator.
There should be a "Forward" button at the bottom of the PM screen.
If there is a forum post you wish to call to someone's attention, please copy the permalink address and paste it into the PM to your moderator of choice.
Current moderators are OnceDear, gordonm888, and Dieter (me). Wizard can also help, but please try the moderators first.
Most of us respond pretty quickly to these sorts of things.

You hasten the inevitable heat death of the universe, the spammer makes a few cents for the clickthrough, your device may get hacked, the spammer may try again since a 1 in 1000 hit rate means we're a juicier than average userbase...
You know. Bad stuff.

Actually, that was a typo from Ashley01... It's " boGus", not "boNus" ;-)

Just delete the PM's
I'd think it might be a good idea just to kill new member registration for the time being, at least, until we come up with something more difficult for these spambots to get through.
Can the powers that be limit PM's until after a probationary period or minimum number of posts, like they have implemented for the posting of links?Quote: Mission146We've got another one with a created member called, "Jackpot."

That's also a good idea. Actually, that's a much better idea than mine.
Quote: AlanMendelsonI'm not sure they're spam bots. I think it's more likely they are kids sitting in boiler room setups in foreign countries getting paid $1 a day to send out these things.
I think a mechanical turk spambot passes the turing test for spambot.
