My boyfriend and his friends enjoy doing stupid things in his car. Just 5 minutes ago I found out they went drifting, it snowed last night, and there's black ice everywhere. They took videos and thought it was the coolest thing ever. He and his friends do things like this often, they're completely stupid and don't think anything through. I'm really angry at him, and these types of actions make me feel like shit.
Am I completely overreacting? I understand people do it all the time, it's fun and all that good stuff. But it's dangerous, and the last thing in the world i want is for him to get hurt. Is it completely unreasonable for me to want him to stop doing actions like this?
I want him to have fun with his friends, but it's dangerous and i don't want him to get arrested, or hurt.

No.

I understand people do it all the time....

No they don't.

Yes. Or no. Depending on your point of view.

He'll never change until someone gets seriously hurt. Or killed.

You're only fooling yourself to think you'll get him to change by begging.

The best thing you can do is to leave him.

My boyfriend ...

Do you see any long term potential in this guy? He is headed for the ER or the Jail Cell or both. If he is completely stupid and doesn't think things through, he will never make much of an employee anywhere and so will always be poor. He is probably going to be out with his friends, not at home supporting kids or anything. So what sort of return on your investment in him do you see yourself getting?

And you chose a gambling site (1st post) to air your problem? Marry him, he'll change. Hope you don't have kids!

I apologize for the inaccurate category, that I posted this in.

I grew up on a lake and once it froze my friends and I would do this all winter long. Most of us had muscle cars and it was a lot of fun. I do not recommend this for the highway.

I'm assuming you are fairly young. If he gets caught, they'll throw the book at him.

Back off, give him some room.

He's doing nothing that I haven't done.

Oh yeah, post the vid.

You should murder* this boyfriend of yours and frame his mother so that she goes to jail instead of you for committing the homicide.

* I don't actually condone murdering people.

Betting the Big 6 or Big 8 is obviously a bad idea, and in only one circumstance can it make any sense. You are getting less value for your bet rather than just Placing the 6 or 8. So, it is not unreasonable to be upset at him for betting Big 6. Personally, I'd find it a deal-breaking offense. Kick him to the curb.

My god, what a bunch of prissy, fun-killing wet blankets!

All this kid is doing is squirreling around in a car, doing donuts in the snow.

Christ on a crutch, haven't you ALL done that?

I know I did, as did my friends, and we all turned out fine (doctors, lawyers, CPAs etc.).

This chick must have met her prior boyfriends at church socials, if this type of healthy, NORMAL young male activity alarms her.

Let him have some fun before he's forced to wear the yoke!

Sheesh!

Go out and spend lots of extra money on the best winter tires so that he can't skid around in his car. Better yet, pay a friend to total the car so he can't do these things.

No, you're not overreacting.
