are over the top fantasy. The Wiz of Odds with
just the Emerald City and no rainbow suggest
professionalism with no over the top expectations.
Unless you're promising something you can't deliver,
subtle works well every time. Whats the message
you're trying to convey to people on Wiz of Odds?
That reading your advice will net them piles of
green chips? Hardly. You're telling them the truth
about gambling, that its all about math. And the
chances of you getting piles of green chips is slim
at best.
The subtle suggestion that you're whimsically
connected to the Emerald City from the Wizard
of Oz works to that end. No rainbows promising
something you can't deliver, no piles of green chips
you can't make good on. You make no promises,
the readers have no expectations.
You're very welcome.Quote: WizardDJTeddyBear has done some great work with all of these -- thanks Dave!
Obviously, I'm biased, so I won't vote. Nor will I divulge the thoughts behind the genesis of these changes.
But I'm as eager as the Wiz to see the results, as well as the comments.
If a Rainbow is to be add. I would like Banner 5, because the Rainbow looks Clear & Strong.
What about bringing back the caricature with the Wizard hat?
Quote: MrCasinoGamesI like Banner 8. It is Nice & Semple.

My thoughts as well.
Book has been in public domain since 1956. (One of the reasons "Wicked" got made). MGM protects its trademarks from the film but I don't see any similarity there.Quote: thlfWould there be any issues with the emerald city look? Are there any liscensing issues with either the Wizard of Oz or with the slot maker I believe it is WMS?
It doesn't really matter. They use the movie characters which they paid MGM (now Warner's) for. They aren't entitled to enforce the trademark as just a licensee.Quote: thlfWhat about the slot maker though. They probably paid someone a pretty penny for that liscense and the graphic on the banner looks awfully similar to the graphic on the slot machine.
These are just drafts.
For the final version, if we use an Emerald City, I'll probably re-draw it from scratch. Heck, that's the only way I can improve the resolution....
a pot of gold at the end of it. Thats only true for
the casino, not people reading the site.
I'm certainly not one to say there is any easy way to make money gambling, and I wasn't trying to imply that with the rainbow. It is supposed to be an homage to the "Somewhere over the Rainbow" song. There is also often a rainbow surrounding the Emerald City.
However, due to the dimensions of the banner, I can't draw a rainbow around the Emerald City.
Yeah, I checked out those images. One of them has the Emerald City I used.
You'll note that some are radically different. Some have a double halo instead of a rainbow. And some aren't even green!

Ever tried to get to the end of the rainbow? It's always just out of reach...

A few months ago I was treated to a complete bow, unbroken across the sky, both ends diving into earth. First time I ever saw a complete one.
I voted number #4 followed by #7. I like the histogram over the Emerald City.
Quote: DJTeddyBearDon't worry about the license issues.
The Wizard ought to register the trademark though. There are (were) other folks using the, "Wizard of Odds" or "Wizard of Vegas" monikers on the web. Remember the in home massage guy? There's also a listing for a "Wizard of Odds Gaming Consulting" on Sienna Vista, but this may be our patron's.

I think I did register Wizard of Vegas and Wizard of Macau. Wizard of Odds I didn't because it was used before me, for example by a game show starring Alex Trebec, preceding Jeopardy. I used to live on Sienna Vista Drive.
When i found the site i had no idea what the green was about. Simple is best. Imho.

I haven't seen that shade of purple since Starsky and Hutch.
Huggy Bear had a Cadillac that color..
