I use the ranking system of low cards 2 to 5 (L), mid cards 6 - 10(M) and high cards Jack - Ace (H) .
I played 100 hands today and copped 80 hands which had not a single picture cards. I had mid - low or low-low for about 80 hands or 4 out of 5 hands.
I also did not hit a single hand with a pocket pair or a single hand with two pictures or high cards in 100 hands which is really ridiculous as i should have had about 6 pairs based on a pair every 17 hands on average.
Of the 20 hands playable hands, the dealer dealt a low card on third street on most hands.
It was not as expensive a night because I folded 4 out of 5 hands without seeing 3rd street and then as most of the third street cards were low cards i folded that too.

It defies all the odds as I should get on average a pocket pair every 17 hands and get to bet to see third street on at least 3 out of 4 hands and not 1 out of 5 hands.

It was a full table and the pocket pairs and half-decent pairing hands happened around me. No jackpots (straight or higher) in 100 hands. But there were trips on the table.

What do you do when you know you are playing the odds and the cards you get defy all probabilities?
Also do you think the machines like Shufflemaster have AI. I always find that new players and reckless players get better hands initially and then it dries up. Maybe just a coincidence but most Mississippi stud dealers all say that beginners' luck is always very high with this game.

(This machine used is a Shuffle Master but the casino dealer cuts the card and then puts it into a shoe before dealing so i don't think the machine has the ability to dictate the cards. It just defies all odds).

Unless you are willing to admit this is just not true there is nothing anyone can say here to help you understand what happened. What ACTUALLY happens is that if a new player gets better hands you NOTICE it, and if he doesn’t you just don’t pay it any attention. New players do not magically get better hands!

I’m not expert enough to figure out the exact likelihood you would be dealt that many bad hands over your session, but you probably were just very unlucky that day. There will be a day when you get a disproportional number of pairs, high cards, etc…. Or the expected proportion. Just no one posts ‘I had 5 blackjacks in my 100 hands..’

Thanks for that.

Very true. I have had very good runs and very bad runs and then some in between,
This was an exceptionally bad run and perhaps saved by the fact that I folded about 4 out of every 5 hands dealt without seeing 3rd Street and then another 10% seeing third street.

Guess I was just very disappointed as I got about 20 hands out of 100 which were playable to third street and then only 10 which were worth taking to the end.I just seemed to defy all odds. Then again, if you play Mississippi stud and expect you will get a straight flush or Royal Flush that is also heavily against the odds.

Some casinos deal cards directly out of the machine but at this casino, the dealer removes the cards, cuts the deck, and then deals the cards out of a shoe so it does remove the conspiracy theory that you are playing against a machine that has profiled your style of play. Just bad luck I guess.

It sucks when this happens for sure.if you go to wizardofodds.com and look up this game, think it says house edge is 4.91% I love 3 card poker. Some days the dealer opens every hand...other days they almost never qualify. Sometimes you just have to walk away or go to a different table. Frustrating but it happens sometimes. What really makes you wonder is if you are ever there when they close the table.they put the cards in the machine hit a button and it sorts them to the exact order they came out of the pack.itsxa different mode but it is programmed to do that

There was a shuffle master manual online a while back. As I understood it reads and picks each of the 52 cards and places each card in one of 52 slots so it reads each card, sorts it and places it based on a random algorithm. it does not shuffle. This ensures all the cards are in the deck and perhaps checks that there are no marked cards.
