Hi Wizards :)

I am so blown away by this awesome site! Wish I had found it years ago. So my dilemma is this... I love to gamble on VLT's and like many people have gotten carried away.

This time is the worst! I am seeking advice as to what you might suggest would be the smartest way to remedy my situation. I realize no guarantees and would genuinely appreciate any tips or advice that may be useful.

Basically I have come into an inheritance but the majority is held in probate for the next 6 months. I was given an advance to purchase a truck. I found one and it was perfect belongs to my good friend. Now I was shy 1000 so I foolishly tried to win the difference. LOL horrible idea, I know trust me.

I am down so bad. My last and only option to fix this is hopefully win some back. I have $900.00 and need to get to $5000.00 before Wednesday.

This foolish move on my part will seriously ruin our friendship and I really do need to try to get it back.

Im in Canada. I have never won any progressives more than a minor.

I have figured out quite a few of the machines and have learned the risks. the problem was I got cocky and had my butt handed to me in the end.

What would you do?

You forgot one other self proclaimed winner!

You keep encouraging members with fantastical claims. Please, at least flag your posts with a tongue in cheek emoticon :p

It's tough to deride the fantastical claims (commendable) of some mischievous or remarkably lucky members without calling them liars or fantasists (ban-able). But we probably ought to keep trying.

The OP should NOT aspire to be a winning gambler. If there is total truth in the original post (forgive my suspicion) then it's the epitome of addictive behaviour which should not be encouraged on a responsibly run, gambling related forum.

Nothing wrong with gambling for fun, or playing into an advantage for profit. But how many BIG legacies take a one way trip to the casino in the hands of addicts. I will haunt my legatees if they squander my hard earned fortune on -EV play.

The "implied"😂😂 insults are subject to the mods judgement. People are not in the habit of finding fault in themselves let alone holding themself accountable.

I find it funny to just sit back and watch dictators soil themselves. Hmmm🤔🤔 that might make a good sig line.

I specifically suggested that the idea was stupid. Not the poster. I'm convinced that we all have stupid ideas from time to time. Did I just insult all of us?
Still, I'll happily take a suspension if Wizard applies his more rigid ( than my own ) enforcement on the personal insult rule. I'll bring this post to his attention by PM.

Save the 900, and get a job until you receive the rest of your inheritance.

Stop gambling.

If you do not have regular income, gambling can get very risky very quickly.

If you need a vehicle buy a cheap car, if you can live without one for 6 months, I would advise that.

OD was very clear that "stupid" was referring to an idea, as opposed to the poster. However, as I recently stated in another thread, my standard is mostly based on how I would feel in the poster's shoes. Maybe she would, but I weigh that against that she specifically asked for opinions on the idea and OD gave her his, Judge Judy style. Frankly, I think OD was right, but I wouldn't have worded it that way myself, as you can see from my own response to the OP.

So, if forced to a yes or no answer, I decline to give or recommend a suspension. However, if Chanty presses charges, I think OD should suspend himself.

One set of rules for all. Is that too much to ask?
Why does the OP have to ask, or better yet, why doesn't every member get that privilege? Two of my suspensions happened because a foreign moderator didn't understand American slang. The target of my "insults" thought it was hilarious, but wasn't asked his opinion.

ChantyG,
I did not intend any offence or insult in my abrupt reply to your post, but some members here believe that I personally insulted you. I should surely have been more welcoming.
I apologise to you if you took my post as a personal insult.

Good luck, by the way in resolving your predicament.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone was allowed to explain their thought process and or apologize for whatever perceived slight someone reads into their posts?

People throughout history have tried the same thing for a lot more money. Just go to the bank and get a tiny swing loan, find a luxury to cut out to get the extra few bucks, or buy a different vehicle.

The money you lost isn't yours anymore. Walk away.

The book was much better, especially the essays. Young Robies take on his father and Truman and the bomb was downright scary.
The deluxe DVD set has a disc that animates the original comic. The scenes on Mars especially pop.

Loved the book (originally 12 comics), thought the film was okay and am underwhelmed by the new HBO show.

Meanwhile, as to the op, let's not forget that FedEx exists because the founder took the company's remaining money and bet it all at Vegas blackjack tables, winning enough to keep things alive. Of course, for every FexEx story there's hundreds of ChantyG stories. So the approach isn't advisable but it's like going for it on 4th down; if you make it you're a genius and if you don't you're an idiot.
