As a result of a move, I have just started gambling in Foxwoods. I am trying to figure out what to play to best increase my so called "player rating" to receive the best comps. It is clearly not just their loyalty care points. My friend and I are at the same number of points and he clearly is getting better offers. When I asked a casino host, she said he had a "better player rating."

Thank you for using the forum and not the blog for your question, I see you are new.
I am not the guy to answer this puzzle, presumably you are saying the casino should be viewing you as similar gamblers. Perhaps the below site can help?

the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!” She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

Does your friend and you play the same games at the same average bet? If you play blackjack at $25-$50 a hand, and he plays Three-card Poker at $15 a hand, he will have a higher rating than you. If he plays slots, he will have a higher rating than you. Slot players are usually comped the best, so if that is important to you, you should play them. However, keep in mind that you will also lose the most money.
