Wizard of las vegas, I just recently played for fortune paigow with a progressive for the first time this passed thursday night. I fell in love with the game I played it again Fri night. The reason for this email is the rules state in order to win progressive you must hit a seven card striaght flush. Friday night around 730 800pm I hit a seven card straight flush on what is called the dragon hand and they only paid me 500 dollars instead of the 230,000 that the progressive was up to. I have recently contacted the nevada gaming commission in this matter because I could not find anywhere that it states I should not have won on this so called dragon hand. Please take a moment of your time and in lighten me on this matter. It would be nice to actually speak to someone about this, sincerely justin. Thanks again for your time

You don't win a bonus or progressive on a dragon hand. How did you get paid $500 on the bonus?

I also wanted to add it's because you don't pay the $1 progressive on the dragon hand which is after the fact. I got a straight flush 5 card once on a dragon hand and didn't get diddly, except for everyone else who had the envy bonus. So you getting $500 was a lucky angle which was in your favor.

How sad to get that hand on the dragon!

Most if not all casinos do not allow a bonus bet on the dragon, so I doubt he even won 500 on that as bonus. I'm guessing it was an envy bonus on his main hand, possibly, though it seems low for that hand. He also doesn't say how much he bet on the dragon; maybe he was playing it for $500?
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Yes they paid me 500 and the other 4 players at the table. My point I am trying to make is why is there not any info what so ever on this dragon hand .

I'm guessing that you can't bet the fortune on the Dragon hand, but that the envy bonus on the 7-Card wild SF is eligible. I'm not sure whether he had an actual 7 Card SF because there is no envy pay table that has the $500 payout for a natural.

I'm assuming what you got in the dragon hand was a seven-card straight flush with a joker. In certain Progressive Pai Gow games, either the natural or the wild will pay 100% of the jackpot, with Five Aces paying 10% of the jackpot.

As others have mentioned already, bonus wagers and bonus payouts do not apply to the dragon hand. You received $500 as an envy because you were playing $5+ on your fortune bonus on your initial hand. If you got that seven-card straight flush on your initial hand instead of the dragon hand, you would have won all the bonus money.

Justin,

In any paigow hand, for any sidebet, you have to play the bonus to win. The dragon hand (certainly at this casino, and most if not all others) does not allow you to play for the bonus on that hand. So, your dragon hand was ineligible to win either the progressive ($1) bonus or for the Fortune bonus, or for that matter, for the envy bonus had that SF been in a regular hand. Your main hand was eligible for the envy because the SF was not in the dealer's hand and you bet at least $5 on the Fortune sidebet. If any of the other players got that hand (not as a dragon), if they didn't play the sidebets, they wouldn't have been paid the bonus either. Sounds like everybody at your table was playing the sidebet, so they got the $500.

Again, I truly feel for you; that's an insane result. But in my experience, they most likely did it correctly (subject to the casino's rules). It would be very helpful if you told us which casino this was, because the guys here could give you a definitive answer if they knew where you were.
