My wife and I come to Vegas about once a month, and play the $.25 and $1 VP machines. Yes, we stay at places like the El Cortez, that's fine by us.
The question: if I were to sit down and play VP for, say, 15 hours a month, which club would give me the most in return? Comped dollars, free room offers in the mail, etc. Obviously, I'm not a high roller, I don't expect much. Just wondering what I could get. Is there a strategy for encouraging offers from the casino--eg $X00 cash in at a time, playing enough to reach a new club level, playing two days in a row, etc?
Thanks so much for your help!
Quote: NickinazHello, I've done a search on here, and can't find anything related to my level of play. My apologies if I missed it. I've tried researching this piece by piece by myself, but there's just too many variables.

Nick,
With you being out of town, I would say Caesar's/Harrah's will give you the best offers, followed closely by Boyd Gaming/Station Casinos. Just a SWAG. But both are low-roller to mid-roller concentrates, with Harrah's being less of a locals place than Station, but both in your range. I would also think, downtown, The D and the Grand would be good, but I have less experience with them.

Anyway, I get offers from Gold Coast now for three free nights, $10-$20 in daily food credit, an invitation to a slot tournament was in with one of the nights offers and some negligible Free Play with it. I probably played an average of 1.5K coin-in two different days at Fremont, though, and they don't care at all. The only thing I can think of is maybe they rated me at UTH as though I'd been playing every hand...not sure...but Fremont has sent me absolutely nothing, ever.
Quote: Mission146You have to select the correct Boyd (BConnected) property, I would add. I played at Gold Coast one night, maybe $100 in total Craps bets, then a couple hours of Video Poker at $0.05/denom ($0.25 Max Bet) single-line game, so maybe $300 in total action there at 600 hands/hour (I'd been drinking, and flirting with the cocktail waitress, so not playing at my usual 800 hands/hour quip) and then I played UTH...not even playing every hand...I made maybe $300-$500 in total bets at UTH, I wasn't keeping track.

I have the same experiences with Gold Coast and Fremont. Gold Coast seems to lean more towards slot play. My husband, who plays more slots, gets a full two-night offer. I, however, get only Sunday-Thursday. Both of us are Sapphire. (Barely, but we now have until June to bump it.)
We are also getting offers from the Shreveport and Tunica locations after playing at those locations. Shreveport, our normal location, is giving us two nights twice a month plus some free play. And after a Labor Day weekend in Tunica, they now give us three nights free every week. (If only we weren't 10 hours away...)

Ahiromu, your link was VERY useful--I don't know how I missed it before. Gameshowfan and Mission, I'll be sure to throw some money at Gold Coast, see if I can get some free room offers in the mail. Beachbumbabs, Station casinos DO offer good comp/cash backs--about a 0.30%--but only on machines that are <100% payback. For those who aren't as anal as me about 1% lost, they are a great option. We may end up playing there anyways, since there are so many of them around town.
But I like the 100.17% DB machines, and Four Queens has them. If Vpfree2 is correct, I can get .3125% cash back and .625% comps there, on a >100% machine. So, that's my first stop.
FWIW, I signed up at the Orleans about two months ago, played quarter VP for about an hour, and left. I got an offer in the mail for a free room Sun-Thurs, or a Fri/Sat one weekend in November.
Thanks again! Keep comments coming if anybody else has anything to add!

This, avoid the pomp and circumstance of The Strip is good advice. Unfortunately sometimes a spouse will consider "Vegas" to mean an ostentatious, opulent big resort on the strip. If you really want bang for the buck in both gambling and in comp programs, stay away from the impressive places. Select by safety, room size, cleanliness, convenience, shuttles, etc. and if possible Play Where You Stay. Let others go gawking at the fountains and internal sky, let others go to places "to be seen" or to strut around playing tourist.Quote: teddysPlay a lot downtown. Off-strip is good too.
I played at the Fremont and started getting offers from them.
I decided I would prefer to get offers from MSS so I switched my play over to MSS, but the offers kept coming from the Fremont.
Finally I asked why this was happening and they explained I had to physically go to the player's club and switch my home hotel.
Quote: Blonde4everRegarding Boyd's downtown properties, Main Street Station, the California and the Fremont... a boothling explained to me that you have to choose one property and you will only get offers from that property.

You can do so online, after you log into your players account. Under the tab "account" there is a sub heading called interests, in which you can set the property you want to use as your 'default' property where the bulk of your offers will come from.

Ah...I did not know that. Thanks!
