I have finally decided to make a niche web site or two. One thing I have found with WordPress themes is they then to put the theme name and author name high up in front, and make them hard to remove. Later I read that some of the "free" themes contain some malicious code.

Can anyone here recommend a good, free theme site where this is not an issue, or offer any other WP advice? I want something simple, sort of like the page here at WOV, but not forums and I only need 5-6 sub-pages.

I built my site using iTheme2 from themify.me:

The default 2012 WP theme should be fine for any small site too:

As far as name/author being hard to remove, with just about any theme that's a CSS question. You'll need to learn some basic CSS editing in order to make changes to things like that.

Oh, I clicked thinking I'd go to your site, and I get lorem ipsum so THAT was a rush! :-)
Thanx for sharing...

There may also be some licensing requirements on free WP themes so make sure before you make any changes what is allowed. The 2012 theme is fine for a first site and there are plenty of plugins.
