Hi I was at the Casino with my Mom, She had won 2 handpay jackpots that evening i was playin right next to her. She was goin thru her slips and found one in my name with my ss# my ID # and my info. Here is the kicker I had never given them my license, and to top it off on the slip was in my maiden name and an old address that i use to live at. I never won that money she did and i am 100% positive she signed her name on the slip not mine. Trying to resolve with casino but still no answer. I did win approx 7 yrs ago so i believe my old info was prob in there system. But how can they make that mistake espically when it was the same slot attendant that paid her on both jackpots? What should I do?

Was your players card in her machine when it won?
Did neither you nor your mother actually look at the slip in the casino?
Do you have access to the signed slip?
Who would be liable for more taxes, you or your mother?
How are you 'trying to resolve the error with the casino?'

I would contact the Michigan gaming commission for advice. As an extreme measure, you can always file suit in Small Claims court against the casino, to have a Judge order them to correct their error. Your Mom would need to testify on your behalf of course...

Did the casino withhold taxes?
Maybe you should just calculate your taxes with and without the jackpot and have your mom pay you the difference. Or, if this reduces your tax liability because excess money was withheld from the jackpot, then you pay your mom the extra.

To SOOPOO , No My players card was not in her machine if it was, i have been married and my married name is on my players card :)
And the 2nd question i did not look at the slip cause it was my moms jackpot and apparently she just signed her name .
No I do not have access to the signed slip at this point :(
As for trying to resolve this with casino I want my name off that w2 Because i did not win that money. I also have moved ovr 2 yrs ago from the address that is on the w2.

Crystal Math has the answer I was trying to infer as it is probably illegal. But if you are in a lower tax bracket than your mother have her just pay you the tax. If she is in a lower tax bracket than you just keep working to get this mess fixed.
I am still trying to figure out how your name appeared on the form without your mother giving it to them....?
Does your mother still love you?
edit... If your mother has losses to offset those wins, and you don't, the DEFINITELY keep at it until they get it right.
