Nowhere as bad as the decision to build a racetrack. Race tracks are disappearing at an alarming rate, especially if they do not have slots. Even Pimlico is only open today because the Maryland Jockey club gets a slice of the casino taxes.

Wow, that story details a number of disasters. Casinos are not cure alls. I kinda liked the suggestion buried in the article to transform the spot into a 'high performance' auto track, with an 'upscale' garage. This may seem to be an answer catering to the 1 per centers, but a similar track was created not far from me around an abandoned air strip. The car guys and gals frequent the track, and the surrounding businesses benefit as well.
