As you can see from my user name i am interested in opnions on the Hollywood park Casino.
Is everyone aware that new owners have taken over and are completley rebuilding everything.
With all the traffic between LA and Vegas i'm wondering where if any where HPC ranks among players on here and why?
Cheers

Isn't HPC just a card room? I didn't see any reference to machines on its website.
I don't know how old this "news" is, but it looks like they're starting up house-dealt blackjack and baccarat.

Yes, it's just a cardroom. A very big cardroom, but just a cardroom.
How do the new rules work on the BJ, Bacc, PGP, etc. tables? Is there no more need for a player/banker? If so, I wonder how it went unwinding all of those relationships.

I haven't been there in about 6 months. But I became regular of Hollywood Park after they got rid of their dollar ante on the blackjack game :)
It's a 6:5 game, H17, 6 deck, Surrender at any point except after splitting and doubling, split up to 3 hands, double on anything, no rsa, but you push on a 3 card bust if your total is less than the dealers bust total (excluding the total 22). The game has a 1% house edge with the correct basic strategy for this game.
To make money you have to bank the game at an unfavorable count and then switch back to playing your hand at a favorable count.
Goodluck!

And how exactly do you pull this off? I never played player banked blackjack, so that might seem like a stupid question. So basically you hog being banker, and then when the count gets high, you announce that you don't want to be banker anymore? What if the count drops drastically after 2 rounds, do you volunteer to be banker again? What if other players want a turn at being banker? What if no one besides you wants to be banker?

Just to be clear banking is playing the dealers cards, you act last and follow all dealer rules.
You can only bet banker two rounds in a row, and you must play two rounds as non banker to be able to bank again. After two rounds of play just yell bank. If there are other players at the table then bank seat goes clockwise. 99 percent of folks choose not to bank.
I would try my best to play heads up against the corporation (guys banking the game full time) The dealer is there to just deal cards. We would alternate banking after two rounds. In order for the game to be fair the corporation will play against you when you're banking. When I've played against the corporation I've never noticed them counting and most of them are bored out of their minds. I've taken some big hits out of them and they still chose to play against me as the bank. Some of the corp employees will refuse to play against you after a certain point. But you just wait until they go on break or a shift change. Also if other players are at the table you can bank against them.
If the count is favorable for the player I will just skip banking. If the table is full and if the TC is a small positive I will still bank since most if not all of the players do not know correct basic strategy for the game. If the count is unfavorable to the player and I have to play I just bet the minimum which could be as low as five bucks on weekdays.
The corporation plays basic strategy when you bank. They have a BS card with them. You can either take a peek at it from behind them, or bank the game until you've figured out the correct plays :P Or if you're savvy just generate the b.s. yourself. The b.s. on the wizard site is outdated with its rules and includes the use of jokers. I believe commerce casino still uses jokers in the deck.
Warning: a full table at hollywood park would probably only see 30 hands an hour if that. It's dreadfully slow and the play is so heinous I want to vomit. If you have patience you can bank a full table and make a killing, but be prepared to be hated and have all the players leave the table or sit out when you try to bank against them a second time. And then ultimately have no corp employee want to take your action. Kinda like getting barred lol.
As someone has previously said the LA card rooms are like the wild west. I've played at commerce, hollywood park, hustler, there are a few more including crystal, normandie, and bicycle. I'm sure I'm forgetting some but anyway watch your back on the way out.
Edit: Some of the places are shitholes and house shit people but some of the employees and the patrons are nice people. I guess don't judge a book by it's cover?

By California law they must offer banking. Unless the law changed. About a year+ ago they took away the ante on blackjack and bacc. The ante is still there to bank though.
Would be nice if someone could go take a look. Not sure when I'll be in LA next.
I heard they were going to build a hotel tower on the grounds. I wonder if any construction is going on?

We do have the $3000.00 guaranteed BlackJack Tournament every Thursday
(tomorrow) at 5pm it has a $45 total Buyin with registration as late as around 6pm.
more info will be under the tourney tab.
Do have this ? for you all, as you are in the heart of the BlackJack world, are BJ Tourneys popular or more of just a thing to do?
Our poker tourneys are almost always over flowing (my game) and don't quite understand why the BJ tourneys don't do as good.
