I go here frequently to play baccarat and roulette

the video poker and slot machines are apprently virtual lottery tickets (class II machines)

are these the same slot machines that are in other casinos (i dont play slots so i dont pay attention).......so that once NY legalizes gaming they can be "switched" to random or are they totally different machines that would have to be replaced?

also, since they are only allowed to have class II machines then why does the baccarat games deal real cards and how are the roulette machines real with a real ball?

very confusing to me.........the roulette tables are not pre determined as the slot machines are

For slots, your actual results will be close to what to you would expect slots to payback in Vegas even though the method is different. If all casinos switch to "class III" or "Vegas Style" the games will have to be technically altered or switched. But for long term results, you wouldn't notice much of a difference on slots if they became "Vegas Style".

But for video poker, it's completely different, because in Vegas they are mandated to deal video poker from a random, standard poker deck. So things like strategy matter. At Resorts World, they are predetermined VLTs for any slot or video poker machine, so strategy is worthless. Why electronic table games are from "random and fair decks" or in the case of roulette "a equally weighted wheel" is mainly because players can bet "both sides" on these games I believe. So the games MUST be fair, otherwise smart gamblers could beat the electronic tables.

Why NY does it this way currently in their racinos...the only explanation I can give is...ignorance.

There would be another approval process needed, so I wouldn't expect an instantaneous change. There wouldn't already be a "switch" because the "switch" wouldn't had been approved to be there.

The switch would definitely not be immediate even after legislative approval. Games designed for NY racinos are typically designed to be a "predetermined" VLT result. So there will be a likely needed hardware change. If they are server based, then a software update via the server may be good enough for the change.

If the payout is the same as "random" then why should we care anyways?

For regular slots, it really doesn't matter much because the virtual ticket pool is large so results mimic a slot run by a random number generator. Video poker is a whole other story.
