We'll be between Orlando and Tampa Bay over the
Christmas break.
Any recommendations on the best casino to visit ?
My criteria would be:
- Nicer, upscale Setting preferred
- Decent paytables

There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts
They just want to steal us all and take us all apart

As far as I know, the Hard Rock casino in Tampa is about your only option. It's quite nice. Good poker room. I don't think they offer video poker. I might be mistaken, but I've never seen it. Expect the rules and payouts to be casino-friendly and the minimums to be fairly high, because it's the only game in town.
There's a fairly new casino boat that departs out of Canaveral. It's actually the old casino boat that has been re-branded. They got rid of the poker room, and replaced it with a nightclub. I haven't been on it since it changed over.

Be certain to double check. I keep hearing of the vessels going bankrupt.Quote: PapaChubbyThere's a fairly new casino boat that departs out of Canaveral.
Remember, on a land based casino: No dice, no roulette.

I don't really know about the casinos in Florida, but I do know of the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL.

Having moved from the Tampa Bay area 4 years ago, here are the few choices that I remember:
Seminole Hardrock Tampa
and
SunCruz
These are your best choices for gaming in the Tampa-St.Pete-Clearwater Metro area. There's nothing in the Orlando Metro area(Disney=Family type entertainment).
If you're the Bingo type, options are available all over the area. My M-I-L can can confirm that!

I don't know everything but I know a lot.

In the case of SunCruz to Port Richey, I would make certain not just that the shuttle boats still run but that the "casino" actually offers anything you might want.

If I remember correctly, there had been a few Federal or State raids on the SunCruz folks before I left. Taxes or something minor like that.

Its not just taxes or paperwork,,, its that the boat is largely slot machines and you can get more and better on land now so if you go for the craps or roulette, be sure they feature that on the day you want to go.
