My first guess would be "dragons", because they are too cross-cultural for pure fiction, but really we'd at most be talking about something like some wolf-sized long-necked animals rather than stuff from D&D.
If we don't count that, scientifically it's extremely unlikely for humans to be the only sentient species in the universe or just the galaxy, seeing how much evidence of random lifeform formation being a normal and expected result given suitable conditions rather than an exotic incident we have amassed. That doesn't mean any of them have actually visited Earth, or we'll ever make contact, or that contact might be meaningful, or anything like that, but still they most likely exist somewhere. Actual contact is unlikely.
You also faield to mention fairies and unicorns ;)

Right, it is quite possible none are true. Taking into account variables such as number of sitings, evidence, cross cultural similarities, etc. I'm just wondering what people think has the highest probability.
I assume you're being cute, but "extant" IS a word.Quote: dmI vote for extant.
But don't feel bad. I had to look it up.
I had to look up "Foo fighters" too.
For those reasons, I didn't vote.

"Extant" isn't a rare word and Foo fighters is an interesting curiousity during WWII that I would think most people would be happy to look up and learn about if they had never heard of it. Seems someone is always offended though. Sorry

Based on that, "dragons". The important part is that, unlike ghosts etc, they have no psychological reason to appear, and would have to be based on external evidence entirely.
But based on more modern science, particularly recently established self-organization of complex systems, extraterrestrial life is a near certainty, and even sentient and spacefaring extraterrestrial life is far too likely for "dragons" to be able to compete with. The question of whether we have ever seen any or not is a lot more open, though.

Doesn't it mean "still in existence"?

I don't know how cute I was being. I chose that response because I don't know the meaning, don't care to know the meaning, and was not interested in voting regardless of what it meant. But, upon further considerqtion, if it means imaginary then I vote for 1 and 2.

I don't know the meaning of every word as I've admitted, but I think rare is a term relating to scarcity or cooking. But don't be offended. I usually order medium rare. It's rare that I order rare.
Quote: MoscaI'm not even close to believing that any of those have any chance of being real. If I had to "suppose", I would suppose that Yeti/Bigfoot is based on finding pre-history humans finding Neanderthal/Erectus bones. But that Bigfoot is around now, today? No.
Here are some people who'd argue that fact . . . http://www.bfro.net/

Yes, I'm sure they would. Their evidence amounts to, "But... but we seen it!"
