It has now spread to Israel which prided itself on a huge vaccination campaign.
People already vaccinated are coming down ill.
All eyes on Israel as this may be the first real test of the vaccine effort.
Haven't even finished the first vaccine rollout successfully. Imagine if it has to be redone again.
Logistics, and Billions in costs and most likely a loss in support by the general public

As far as I can remember, none of the vaccines promised immunity. They were all pretty close to 100% not getting severe enough case to be hospitalized or dead if you got vaccinated.

"An initial seven cases of the Indian variant were detected in Israel last week among people arriving from abroad and who have since undergone preliminary testing, the Health Ministry said.
"The impression is that the Pfizer vaccine has efficacy against it, albeit a reduced efficacy," the ministry's director-general, Hezi Levy, told Kan public radio, saying the number of cases of the variant in Israel now stood at eight."

How much reduced is the reduced efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine against the India variant of covid?
It's a very hyighly populated country and they took it very easy. How much a person needs to breathe, as in how profusely or not, is turning out to be a big factor in the spread. Lately I've been thinking how lucky Jeff Bezos and some of the other tech companies are to have such a reason out there for people to not have contact with each other and to use their technology. How accepting will people be when droids are flying around our neighborhoods in ways they wouldn't before and for driverless vehicles picking them up? We're going to be really screwed as an international society if anything worse and more secretly contagious gets out there. I feel we haven't really learned our lesson as a world for our species' long term survival. We need a few weeks of things for survival always on hand, and for most everyone to have access. Food, medicine, protection from elements shouldn't be relying on just in time supply chains. It's just me, but I don't think we should go back hundreds of years as a society because we were to good to be prepared.Quote: darkozIndia is being hit hard by an extremely contagious variant of Covid.

People didn't take social distancing seriously enough(I'm guilty of that a few times myself).
People don't want to wear masks.
People don't want to get vaccinated.
What do we think is going to happen? Apparently, it's ok because it only kills a small percentage of people. 🤷♂️

Israel just opened up the whole country after a very successful c-virus vaccination effort. Israeli health authorities thought the effort was THAT successful. Now it appears India has identified c-virus variants that are immune to the vaccines, and those variants are now appearing in Israel. And, you ask what might happen?
As more US states "open up" this summer, a vaccine-resistant virus escaped its country of origin. Expect to see it here, if it has not already arrived. If America experiences a major c-virus resurgence, I question whether this country's national medical infrastructure will find itself overwhelmed (worse than before). We cannot expect medical staff to work 12-hour shifts 7 days a week for years into the future. If a c-virus surge happens, look for refrigeration trucks to fill hospital parking lots as deaths increase. Seems to me this could easily happen If -- a big if -- if the virus gets the jump on us.
Based on the gap between what health experts recommend and how folks behave, this could be our 2021. It would not surprise me if some of us experience something like this first-hand. YMMV.

This will be our 2021, 2022 and 2023.
