Well, keep it to yourselves. If it's anything like British and African variants, it will be rampant. Currently 1 in 50 Brits is infected at this very moment. In our capital, 1 in 30 has Covid. We had our worst day for deaths yesterday.Quote: darkozEven worse than British and South African Covid.

I read yesterday that they have already identified over 50 strains of this Covid.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Oh, there are VAST numbers of slightly mutated variants. In fact with genome sequencing, the clever folks can track the flow of infection from person to person just based on tiny changes. The UK and African variants, and the Danish Mink variant were conspicuous by their different behavior and infectivity. As I understand it, the virus can remain viable and liable to infect if it sits on hard surfaces such as plastic or metal. or about 72 hours on porous surfaces. However, that's not been demonstrated to be a significant infection vector compared from direct exhalation to inhalation transmission. This is, after all a virus that is mostly incubated in the lungs of it's host and it attaches to and invades cells within the lungs of it's target. Even skin to skin viruses like HPV are spread mostly by direct skin contact and not by hand.Quote: darkozIt's not two weeks lol.

If an infected person coughs or sneezes into their hands, it's quite an arduaous journey from their hand to the door handle they touch, to the hands I touch the handle with and onwards to my lung after I pick my nose. Far easier if they cough in my proximity as I inhale.

For perspective, yesterday we had 47K new cases, 1319 new hospital admissions bringing us to a total of 36489 currently hospitalised and we had 1564 dead for the day ( a new record ).
So per population, we seem to be in broadly the same order of numbers.
We too are seriously doubling down on precautions. It's started to flatten infections over the last couple of days. But Deaths trail infections by three weeks or so, so we will see infections drop as deaths rise. With effort, we may see deaths decline in a month or so.
Stay safe. Be responsible for your own potential infectivity.

One of the 1st major symptoms is loss of taste and smell which in itself is really bizarre
