Tony Bigcharles arrested after making "terroristic threats" on his poker blog (which is still live)

Arrest:

This is a blessing in disguise not only for the people this man might have injured but for himself as well - perhaps he can get the help he needs. However, depression and gambling are not a good combination.

Scroll down to the bottom for the threats if you don't want to read the entire thing.

For those who don't know, I do believe he's on the autism spectrum.

In other news kinda related:

On another forum in the last few weeks, Alan Mendelson said he reported KJ to the FBI(and or local authorities )for some nonsense.

p.s. Is this police report doxing?(he is or was a member here) Didn't we just have an issue this stuff, and why we no longer have Mission as a Moderator?

Personally, I think this is the kind of information we as members should know about.

Hell, a few people have met Tony and members have also run into him at various casinos.

I do not believe it is doxing as he writes a public blog and his arrest record is public information. It does not show his home address or phone number

I thought this would be a relevant topic of interest to the board.

FYI I wasn't trying to call you out. It's very relevant as far as I'm concerned. I'm just curiouse what the rules are here. I think we should have this type of information here on the forum to help protect its members since TBC gets around to many casinos.

For instance, you are a public figure, so if you got arrested for somthing would it be ok if I posted your arrest record and blotted out your addresses and number(I WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!)?

Oh I did not assume you were calling me out at all

And, as regards my being a public figure - I guess I am a public figure as I have been on radio, television, in a movie and write a blog -- however, I think the line should be drawn at publishing my private contact information (i.e. personal phone number, home address)

Personally, I think it should only be allowed if it's for the protection of the members and each case should be handled differently.

I don't think it should be allowed if someone got arrested for prostitution, simple drugs, getting into a bar fight, disorderly conduct, or something like that. I think it should only be stuff that could affect other members.

It was the right move to arrest Tony Bigcharles. His remarks were confrontational and hinted at arson, death and murder. He's a powder keg.

I know someone who spent 2 1/2 years in jail over this same kind of rant. He would have probably just been kept for observation, but every time he went to court he spoke about harming or threatening the judge. This fellow had two young daughters, 12 and 14, that he would talk bad about in public in front of them. I was a witness to this on a few occasions and felt it was completely wrong to talk about your children like that. He would talk about how he'd "had it with them" and wished he wasn't their father. It is terrible for children to hear this from thier father. A lot of us who knew him felt that the responsibilities and financial strain of raising his family was more than he could take, and his orchestrating going to jail was his way of giving up. He's been out of jail now about two months. I have not seen him since his release, but I hope he's able to move forward in a positive way.

to be honest i dont think posts telling the whole world this (or naming a forum member) should be allowed by the moderators. the only place this is appropriate is on my actaul blog which i updated to explain about 8 hours after being released when all charges were dropped. (the prosecutors office declined to file) so i no longer have any upcoming court appearences. im a free man.

naturally im embarrassed and the old blog i deleted within 20 minutes of publising the new one.

and also i went back 2 days later, made a new blog and made sure everyone knew this 86 (from about a year earlier in another casino) was a made up story and never happened. its interesting to see how many are quick to assume the worst. lets not let the world think things without evidence.

Sevencard, if you are concerned about your name being out there I would suggest a PM to the Wiz who may consider any request you have.

Hopefully you are doing better. I did read your update and while I don’t know you or the person that reported you, I would say I would have done the exact same thing in reporting a friend who it appears was considering harm to himself. Regardless of the situation it puts that person in, if I believed they are at risk of harm , I would do it 100% of the time.

Maybe you feel differently but I’d be willing to bet there are a lot of people out there who care for you and were/ are concerned about you. Sometimes it takes tough times to see that.

Best Wishes.

Mr. Bigcharles - your blog is open to the public. You have made yourself a public figure - you cannot seek the publicity of a blog on the Internet yet tell people they can only review the information on your blog itself and have no discussions of it anywhere else.

That being said, I hope you get the help you need to make it through the dark times.

Anybody from the 80s remember the TV show called You Can't Do That on Television which was on Nickelodeon? They had a skit where the kids were in a classroom and a male character said he would shoot the president, then the secret service came in right away and arrested him. It was supposed to be a joke back then that you could say that because nobody would believe you or be stupid enough to believe you could pull it off. It was free speech to vent frustration in an informal way. Even back then you would have to at least write a letter directly. I blame women's suffrage, men alone are too practical. Everyone saying it is right to arrest this man and saying he is nuts is just saying that because it's the socially acceptable thing to say. BS you guys believe that, because you guys live by the math and don't do anything unless it makes mathematical sense dollar for dollar.

Bullshit. Followed by more bullshit. And damn dangerous bullshit that can get people killed. Get a grip. Or don't, and just STFU when you have no clue, when something truly serious is involved.

I think some of the more ridiculous inappropriate & perverse of the rules here probably prevent saying in detail just how completely dangerously wrong you are, making any comment about anyone's diagnosed conditions and prior findings and actions by courts of law, state and federal, adjudicating someone's dangerously unstable mental status and any prior acts of violence towards others. But what I will say whether anyone likes it or not is that you have absolutely no idea what the hell you're talking about, and you really need to STFU about matters of this sort which you are so very incredibly poorly equipped to understand and about which your impulsive and ignorant judgments can have very extremely destructive consequences. If you're too damn lazy to investigate who and what you're talking about with something like this, then zip it.

And by the way, the ludicrous first part above that you wrote apparently as some kind of bizarre justification is also complete absolute total nonsense. People most definitely were arrested and jailed for what you attempt to describe as some kind of normal public behavior that you imagine existed in the 1980s. Bull. I doubt if you understood whatever it was you thought you saw on that kids cartoon channel.

I had a close friend - I still often like to 'get a beer' with him - who had to tell me to quit using expressions like "I could kill him" when I was venting about various people who ticked me off. He knew, of course, I was just carelessly letting off steam ...

Somebody else listening might not know; and if the guy is such a jerk, maybe somebody will kill him. You don't want to be quoted even though the scenario seems unlikely.

And as this incident shows, as far as your own sanity, probably best to nip such in the bud. Whatever develops next just might not be good.
