I think the difference is there, it's palpable and it should be accounted for in the legislative system.

Interesting, (And heart breaking at the same time ) didn't know that or I did but had forgotten it? I know I thought I had some vast knowledge about pre-industrial Europe, and all, but.. memory is a b***h.

The vows of chastity taken at a confirmation at age seven were not so absurdly irrelevant since the age of consent was nine and society considered females to be less able to regulate their own conduct than a male.

Of course since the church imposed taxes and poorhouse assessments, being a wealthy landowner meant there was a necessity to be on very good terms with the Bishop.

Victorian boys were often dressed as girls when young and had long curls. Indeed in Victorian England and in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in colonial times a boy under eleven was legally considered to be a female.
