Steve Wynn bought a sculpture of Popeye, by Jeff Koons, for $28M.

I hope for Steve's sake it's unbreakable.

Then the statue would have had Steve's hands around his neck squeezing :)

Bad deal to me unless solid gold. it's just pure speculation hoping to not be the last one stuck with it who bid up on it.

It's really big. At 2000 pounds, it is about $14,000 per pound or $960 per troy ounce. So you know it's not 24k gold.

But there could be some valuable metal in there.

His name was Bluto, then changed to Brutus in 1957. Then back to Bluto in 1980.

Something sold just recently (like 100 million) looked to me like a square painted block inside another square painted block. Go figure, those artists are smarter than the rest of us getting those prices. Not sure about the buyers.

I guess the buyers are smart if they can find someone to pay even more for it.
