I watch quite a few DVD's, thanks to Netflix, and while most are pretty good, it is very, very rare that one completely blows me away.
This just happened with a flick I'd never heard of: "Sound City," by David Grohl, he previously of Nirvana, and recently Foo Fighters.
My friend brought it over; he had stumbled across it, due to the "suggested" feature on Netflix; he and I were very intrigued that it scored a perfect 100 by the reviewers.
Absolutely, completely awesome movie!
For baby boomers with an appreciation for music and its production over the last portion of the twentieth century, this film should be considered a must see.

Quote: sodawaterDVDs? What is this, 2001?
No, "2001" features Hal, the digital computer.
"Sound City" features Rupert Neve and his brilliant, unmatchable creation, the all-analog Neve mixing / sound board.
Try it, I dare you find one, just one who will admit it. Total garbage, like the people who voted "12 years a slave" without even seeing the movie.
Quote: MrVOK, we are a diverse group, and no doubt have watched a wide variety of films on DVD.

Sound City was excellent - I like how the Foos played with all the people ewho made history in that recording studio one last time
Quote: BozStill has to be "Kingpin"...nothing like the Greater Reno Open for excitement. As for this seldom seen nonsense, there usually is a reason. Kind of like the people who actually like "The English Patient".

I have to have my dose of movies/TV. To wind down and relax with my girl. I find myself watching less movies, (I dislike most action movies nowadays, things like transformers) and more TV series Things like Breaking Bad, American horror stories or even Modern Family. TV series seem to be getting better over the last 10 years especially the Discovery and History channel, IMO.
They have a new series I like called Fargo a direct sequel to the movie, It's a dark comedy that has Billy Bob Thornton, Bob Odenkirk (Sol from breaking bad) Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins and DR Watson and many other credits)
