Buzz's particular expression is one I've seen a zillion times on the "Keep Calm" meme.
Couple that with Buzz's history of not posting img., and I gave benefit of doubt.
Where the heck did that come from and what does it mean?

Keep Calm and Carry On was a limited release poster done by the British government in 1939 right before entering WWII to boost morale
Quote: BuzzardI appreciate your not pulling the trigger Face. But at the same time I did not think about the response. I answered a question and it is an answer that many would accept. Starting to understand EB hiatus. Gee, I thought we were all adults here. I mean this is not the poetry forum or children's literature. If anything ace was guilty of asking a leading question. I may have been the first to type that answer, but certainly not the only one to think of it. THEY SAY YOU CANT TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS. Just not as much fun in Mike's house anymore.
Ace's response of "uhmmmm" has me thinking that he may not have been familiar your response. What you posted is very common in the keep calm genre and you did it tactfully. In retrospect, I suppose it would have been clearer if you had included the words keep calm in your post. This is yet another case of had this been done in person everyone would have a good laugh and moved on.
I can't disagree with your thoughts on the forum. Even the wise and worldly Face had to think about this one for a moment. That wouldn't have happened a few months ago. Who knows what would have happened had he not handled it?
Me? I've got some padding on my behind just in case that door sneaks up on me. Can I say behind?

That's interesting, I had no idea. I started seeing the above and altered versions several years ago.
What brought this back? Being limited release way back in 1939, seems it would be totally forgotten by now.
Was it in some recent period movie?
Did the British bring it back, seems appropriate for the era of terrorism.
Apparently, some bookstore owner in England discovered the poster from WW2 in an old box, put it up next to their cash register (in 2000), where is piqued interest. The owner started making copies, and it spread like wildfire.
Heck, when I was over in the UK, I bought the "Keep Calm and Carry On" mug for about 5 pounds. Speaking of that, time for my morning joe.

With all due respect, I believe that you may be overly concerned about this whole thing. I saw Buzzard's post prior to Face making his comment and nothing about it struck as me needing action, even knowing nothing about the meme. It seemed to me that he was just legitimately filling in the blank and had the good sense to asterisk the actual word, and if he hadn't, I'd have simply Edited the post and done it for him.
It would really take a lot for me to shine up the banhammer over profanity rather than Editing the actual post. Keep in mind that I was often just within the former, 'Keep it PG,' Rule with respect to profanity...I generally liked using it for emphasis.
Quote: AhighI saw a Hawaiian wearing a shirt that he made himself that was pretty cool IMO. The back said "don't stress just press." The images were of a craps table of course.
I want that shirt.

I want the whole lifestyle!
I'm surprised that Hawaii is also the winner (89.7%) for having a moment of happiness throughout the day. Of course, I have kids, and they're usually good for at least one laugh a day, but even if I didn't, there's still Video Poker trainer on WoO. I would say converting a gutshot straight draw on Deuces Wild is good for a brief feeling of victory for the day.
I feel a bit sorry for anyone who doesn't experience one moment of happiness per day, I can't even comprehend that.
I had requested that forum members post their favorite "Keep Calm" meme - but I thought it was implied to post the actual image/poster lol so, when Buzz merely filled in the blank, I was thrown for a loop :)

Well, I've only got that one bullet, see, and by the time I fish it out of my shirt pocket, it's given me time to think about the situation ;)

I know, I know. But telling someone to "shut the f*** up" would be questioned in any era of WoV.
I get it. I like drama, too, to a point. I think everyone does. But a lot of the stuff became too childish and too dramatic, and as a result, we might have made things a bit sterile. Maybe too sterile. But it feels like the pendulum is swinging back from hyper vigilance and finding a new home, somewhere north of anarchy but south of authoritarianism. We're finding our way. Have faith =)
