I mean, she does look a little skinny (I am into that kinda thing :) ) but isn't that what the competition is all about? Shouldn't she try to lose as much weight as she can in order for her to be happy?
I know that internet forums, boards and chat rooms can be nasty to say the very least but I was wondering if this group had any opinions about what she looks like, looked like and the reaction from the cheap seats.
I have no views on the person you mention, but it can sometimes be very dangerous to comment on someone's weight, just in case it leads them to going down the route above. However there is nothing wrong with cutting out junk food, trying to become more healthy and taking exercise.
As an aside I no longer introduce friends to casinos unless specifically asked or know they already frequent other similar establishments.
I'm not saying the network or show is completely to blame but how can people take aim at this poor girls when she appears to have done what they asked her to?
When will reality TV run its course?
Quote: IbeatyouracesNever. Makes to much money and they don't have to pay actors millions per episode, unless your last name is Kardashian.
I only watch honey boo boo :)
Quote: IbeatyouracesNow that the show is over, she'll gain some of it back.
What makes you think that? Did she get married?

It's always been here from the start in the
form of game shows. It picked up steam
in the 80's when video cams became
smaller and lighter. Its here forever, its
really cheap to make, no actors or writers
to pay, and it makes tons of money. I
enjoy it, I rarely watch scripted TV anymore,
it all looks the same. They tell the same
stories over and over in different ways.
You'll find whatever cop show is on now
is telling the same crap that was on Starsky
and Hutch 40 years ago.

In my narrow view of things I don't consider game shows as being Reality TV per se. I should perhaps have qualified my question by terming "reality TV" as the following around of people who have no discernable skills apart from being mean to one another. The sudden explosion of this type of reality TV I think began with the "Real world" series of shows but it could also have been "big brother".
Don't get me wrong, there are some Reality TV shows I enjoy. I have watched Millionaire Matchmaker (wink), honey boo boo, survivor, american idol and for some inexplicable reason real housewives of new jersey....oh and Jersey Shore.......If I look back at watching these shows (apart from MM of course:) ) I feel a mind numbing effect that squashes my brains into my nether regions.
I would mutch rather watch a Sitcom or perhaps a well written HBO series like The Newsroom or my current favorite Showtime series, Shameless!
I wouldn't blink an eyelid if they had cancelled all Reality TV tomorrow......unless of course I get to make my own Reality TV show for which I have a stunning idea. I need financial backing. If anybody knows of people who do that kind of thing, let me know :)
Quote: onenickelmiracleThe reason why there is controversy is because people think she has an eating disorder and is lying about her actual plan.
I understand that but don't you think thet, in order to lose so much weight you kind of HAVE to develop a bit of an eating disorder? I mean in order to win the contest (and $250k in cash) she had to lose more weight than anybody else......
Just reading a very brief history of this girl, she seemed a perfect candidate for this show. She used to be a swimmer and very fit. You can see by the shape of her legs that she did not start life off as being a big person, she simply fell prey to what her life threw at her and gained a mess of weight.
Also, she WANTED to win. She needed to be at her most skinny fo the results show in order to take home the bacon (te he he he he).
I'm sure if you see her in 2 months she will look healthy and there will be nothing to see. In my opinion the thing that can really hurt here is the public outcry and the condemnation of her conquest online.
Leave her alone I would say! She has conquered her deamons (hopefully permanently) and pocketed a cool $250k........I say all in all a job well done!
Quote: onenickelmiracleThere is a strong possibility nonetheless she fingered her throat at least a few times.
Would you for $250k? :)
Yes even though there are serious health consequences from ruining your teeth to messing up your heart.Quote: TomspurWould you for $250k? :)

You, my friend are an honest man and I respect that!
This is anorexic, and she looks nothing like this woman:

Quote: Beethoven9thI think all of the public criticism is a result of everyone comparing her before & after pictures. If people just saw her walking down the street, they'd say she's thin but not "anorexic".

She'll meet you at the casino but you have to give her lots of chips. Deal?

Ha!
Reminds me of the song, "Three Point One Four," by the Bloodhound Gang. You could probably YouTube it, it's funny, though grossly inappropriate.

The TV networks certainly did, that's why there
were so many of them, even in primetime.
They cost a fraction of what a scripted show
makes, even giving away large prizes. And
people love them. Candid Camera might have
been the first non game reality show.
