Now, I've sat through time share presentations before. And believe me, I wouldn't do it for chump change. But $1000? I'm in.
The community is in Northeast PA, it is Eagle Rock. And it is actually really nice. We aren't in the market for anything but $1000 and a dinner, though. The condition is that an owner has to sponsor you, and show up with you. The flip side is that the owner also gets a $1000 gift card, and the dinner voucher.
If you just schedule a visit without an owner, the offer is a set of Callaway golf clubs and an iPad Mini, still a decent offer.

I am made of iron. I make my living selling things people don't want to buy. All you have to do is say "no" without giving a reason why not. If you give them a reason they have a counter, but if you just say, "No, but thank you for your generous offer" they don't have a handle to twist.
Do you have a link to this current 1k promo. The only thing I see is a set of golf clubs and ipad mini.
Quote: WizardI think a great article idea for this site would be about mooching off as many Vegas time share pitches as possible. As a local, I'm not eligible, .
Just get out of state ID and an address of a
relative. It's still you, just not the you that
lives in Vegas.
Quote: GWAEI have been through my share of these and always hold strong. It is usually for something stupid and small. I wonder if there is even more pressure put on when they are giving away that much.

The offer is sent to current owners by mail or email, they have to do an invite and come with. My coworker's mom in law makes 3-4k a month when they run it. She's had some buyers, so I guess they don't mind. If you go without an owner, the golf clubs and iPad is the lure.
Interesting, I usually am not liked by sales people( the feeling is mutual) because they don't like my questions or bluntness. I would be interested in what kinds of questions you ask when attending theses type of time share things. Justin case I ever decide to attend one.Quote: BozIt isnt hard to get through these things if you are strong enough to make them understand they are wasting their time with you. But too many people fall for it and thats why they can make these crazy offers. I received $500 in shopping cards in Key West and wasn't even there an hour because I asked the kind of questions they dont want to answer in the first few minutes. The salesperson gave up quickly and asked if I even wanted to see the property or just get my cards. They realize their time is better spent on suckers who will fall for their pitch.
I would assume you have to meet certain requirements?Quote: MoscaA local gated community is offering a $1000 gift card (choice of Target, Best Buy, Amazon, or Walmart) and either a 1 night stay in a model unit or a $150 voucher to their restaurant in exchange for sitting through a 90 minute presentation.

Quote: MoscaFrom what I understand, no. Owners would bring people like themselves, and I would think that golf clubs as a gift tends to weed out those who don't fit the Eagle Rock profile. I didn't think too deeply into it, though, because Mrs and I would fit the profile. Except we don't golf. Or ski. Or swim, or hike, or play tennis, or any of that crap.
You have to make $120k a year combined and both be over 35 years of age per their website for the golf clubs and ipad. It says on their website that you have to verify income via w2 before they give you the gift.
When we were in Vegas we did one and the guidelines were similar but they didn't make you prove it. In fact, when we were signing up I said awww we don't qualify and the sales guy said just lie because they don't check. Not sure about the eagle rock place but it appears they check.
Quote: GWAENot sure about the eagle rock place but it appears they check.
I went to one once and they checked. I told them
to shove it. Nobody is going to give you $1000
unless they know you're a qualified sucker.
