My wife has decided that she has had enough of my shit and wants a divorce. So I have decided I need to move. I have picked Las Vegas for my new home. A little about me I'm 28, a college student, and no kids. I receive monthly housing allowance for going to school. I am a sophomore civil engineering student at ASU.
My plan is to go to a community college until I can transfer to a university.
What I could use some help with is what neighborhoods are good area to live in. There would need to be a community college near by. It doesn't need to be within walking distance because I do have a car.
I have no practical advice to offer on neighborhoods. However, been there, done that, not fun but turned out to be a time of opportunity and fortune for me. I hope it will be for you as well.
Also, if the Wizard doesn't have his kids in private school I'd be surprised. Nevada is garbage for education.
Quote: djatcAnyway I ended up on east Harmon next to the Hard Rock.
I was always under the impression that area was kinda ghetto. I guess it's not though?

It's not too bad. But then again I grew up in a pretty bad part of town and kept my head down. Also I'm not home much.

Thanks for the kind words.
I am actually not much of a gambler maybe a few hundred dollars a month. I just happen to like the vibe of Vegas. Its a melting pot of people. That and its sin city. Looks like I wont actually be able to leave until the spring due to school so I have some time to figure it out.

That's fairly significant for a college student...unless you are talking about buy-ins/coin-in and not actual losses. And keep in mind, UNLV sucks for engineering compared to ASU. Hell, I'm a jobless engineer and went to a grad school way better than ASU (Illinois).

Quote: MartinARMTNo, its losses. If you don't mind me asking what field of engineering are you in?
Chemical engineering. Good news for you is the job market may actually be good when you finish college! :) And a few hundred a month is a lot, unless you make/get more than I did when going to college. :(

I agree, most people barely squeak by when they're in college (myself included).
Jobs are overrated.Quote: tringlomaneThat's fairly significant for a college student...unless you are talking about buy-ins/coin-in and not actual losses.
