Thus far there's only a plan to meet on May 24th for craps at MSS (everyone's welcome, too).

I was thinking: is there anything else we can do?

We could conduct a dice control experiment. but we'd need 1) a dice controller, and 2) a place to conduct tests other than a casino.

I do want to take a trip to hoover Dam and the new Bridge. My plan was to book a tour, either before or after arriving to Vegas. Again anyone who'd like to join is welcome to do so. PM me if you're interested. I'm wide open as far as dates go from May 26th to June 8th.

That leaves me out of ideas.

Oh, I plan to walk around Caesars and the Forum shops and poke private fun at the campy and surely inaccurate depictions of Rome (some are of Greece, actually). But I don't think anyone would like to join me in that.

I'm happy to lead a hike/climb at Red Rock canyon. I'd suggest the following day, but I'm flexible. I'm thinking of Kraft Mountain, which is a physically demanding climb, just to warn everybody. Rudeboyoi did it recently with me, should he wish to comment.

Just to tie ideas together, let's use a Roman coin, a really old one, perhaps one dated 48 B.C.

Why? To see whther I'd jump in front of the train to save it? :P

I stopped collecting coins a long time ago, but I would love to get my hands on a real silver or gold Roman coin.

I think you'd have to go down and see Rick about a coin that old...he might have an expert in really old Roman coins from 48 B.C.

This morning my head is so fuzzy that I am not sure whether someone missed my feeble attempt at humor or I'm not following the responses. Just to close it out, I was joshing about the idea of a coin being marked with the date "48 B.C."

I totally missed it.

I've no ieda if the Romans even dated their coins. They were more useful as propaganda tools, as everyone handled them. The face stamped on the coinage mattered, as well as the words beside the portrait.

That's the problem with sarcasm or making a joke here. Some people even get suspended when a certain administrator displays a complete lack of a sense of humor. The names have been deleted to protect the guilty !

From the various discussion of Asperger syndrome, a lot of members of the board at least display signs of it. One of which is difficulty picking up on humor. This can be especially hard when the joke is in writing, and tone can't be inferred.

Quote: Wikipedia

Although individuals with AS usually understand the cognitive basis of humor, they seem to lack understanding of the intent of humor to share enjoyment with others.

If you don't want to be misunderstood, I'd suggest liberal usage of the winky face when using sarcasm or dry humor around here.

Of course, the joke in question was directed squarely at another board member and that person took offense. But we'll ignore that part since it doesn't fit with your narrative, ok? ;-)

How about we schedule May 26th to dissect the Buzz vs Mission feud?

Sounds good! How about we do it at the brewpub at Main Street Station? It's going to take a lot of beer...:-)

What feud? You need to have two sides to have feud.

I may or may not make the Friday night craps session - likely that I'll be there I guess, since I like their beer and I like craps and need to put down some rated play downtown at some point. It will probably depend on how the week's gambling activities have gone for me up to that point.

I usually have no desire to leave the LV area when I visit, but since I'll be in town for 5 nights and 4 full days this time (I think my longest Vegas trip ever) I may be inclined to schedule some outdoor time. Mark me down as interested in a hike...what's the distance/elevation change on Kraft Mountain? I do a lot of hiking over the summer so I should be able to handle it, but I'm unsure on what "physically demanding" means...probably a lot, considering the Wiz's climbing experience :)

I expect that save for the actual WoVCon I'll spend most of my time Downtown. PM me your cell number and we can keep in touch, likely by text messages. If, that is, you want company.

Gee, I did not realize divorce lawyers were so sensitive. And he did not raise objection before the court until after the administrator
had put down his very subjective ruling. Took over 200 words to explain the offense and an addendum about a needed rule change to explain the offense in the future.

I expect this to be explained someday in a law journal or in the minutes of a HOA meeting !

I would roughly estimate 3 miles of hiking and 1000 feet of elevation gain. The trip will take about three hours, depending on how fast the slowest person in the party is. The way up will be steep, up to grades of 60 degrees or so. However, it is sandstone, which makes for great climbing. The way down we'll go a longer but less steep route. I guarantee that those who are in good shape and not afraid of heights will have a great time and workout as well. Possible well-earned lunch at the Yard House at the Red Rock afterward.

Buzz - from this point forward I am not participating in any more dialogue about the suspension imposed by a moderator. Joke or not, the whole discussion is getting old.
