Passed away today. 1 day short of 92. Can someone more computer literate than me post a link so we can TAKE FIVE to remember him ?
Shed not for her
the bitter tear
Nor give the heart
to vain regret
Tis but the casket
that lies here,
The gem that filled it
Sparkles yet

Yahmon. The best and smoothest. I will miss him.

Thanks Chester And FrGamble thanks for the parting words. Gabriel wont be the only in heaven blowing a horn. Maybe Dave and Satchmo will form a duet. Talk about heavenly music.

Now you're confusing me. Dave played the piano. Paul Desmond played the sax, at least the only time I saw the Quartet perform live. I don't recall whether the bass and drum players always remained the same or not.

Haven't listening to Take Five in forever—I guess now's as good a time as any. RIP, Dave!

Hey, confusion is my middle name. But I am pretty sure Sachmo did not play the piano. I know Little Richard is still with us, but what about Fats Domino ?

Some thought that Fats was a victim of Hurricane Katrina but he's still around and well into his 80s.

Here is a clip , I am sure Dave won't mind. Notice all the black faces on stage and nothing but white faces in the audience.
And Fats is definitely tickling the ivories.

Nice Sax work here too, Richard was ok in sharing the stage.
