Certainly no better than the pie at NYNY, near the skybridge to MGM.

and so few elsewhere.

I was a New Yorker until I was 45, I totally understand.
As for this thread,
My advice is to try or Google:
Metro Pizza
1395 E Tropicana (near Maryland)
4178 Koval Lane
Both near the strip
Quote: PokeraddictThat Koval address is inside Ellis Island. Villa Pizza (the actual restaurants, not the casino fast food) is decent. Mark Rich is OK too.
I guess I have always been at Ellis Island at the wrong time, because the slices are alwasy dried out when I get them. But after a few Heffe's, they will do.
Quote: WizardI agree that back east they have higher standards for pizza. However, a decent pizza can be found out west. In Vegas, I recommend Grimaldi's. Just today I noticed they opened one in the Palazzo shops. I swear they're not paying me say that. I might recommend it for the HB weigh-in party.
I have no action going now, but can I safely assume you plan the Pizza party for after the weigh-in ??
Quote: buzzpaffI have no action going now, but can I safely assume you plan the Pizza party for after the weigh-in ??
Now that I think about it; I recall HB preferring a more formal steak restaurant.
If you are ever in the Ohio Valley, then I would suggest DeFelice. I might also suggest DiCarlo's but make no promises, people either love it or they hate it. It's a very unusual style of pizza.
why its so popular. There are mom and pop pizza joints
all over where I live and they all deliver and they never
go out of business. How bad can the economy be if people
can afford to have delivered pizza. One of the most fattening
things you can eat, we never had it when we were kids. No
wonder there are so many blimp kids now.
Quote: ahiromuOn the note of pizza, people who eat it with a fork and knife are doing a dis-service to the entire human race. Want a Chicago style pizza? Eat lasagna.
i agree. i prefer food that you dont need utensils to eat. if i could id put everything in sandwich form.

Pizza is not that awful for you.
http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-tombstone-pizza-original-extra-cheese-i107208
That's for Tombstone Extra Cheese Pizza. It's not balanced, but the caloric/fat content is perfectly reasonable for a dinner. I usually make homemade pizza, but you can go worse than Tombstone if you are going to eat frozen.
Pizza is also cheap. If anyone is running specials, such as two-large for $11.99 (local pizza shop running that right now) you've got dinner and the following day's lunch for a family of four for less than three extra value meals from McDonald's. CiCi's (abyssmal) Pizza Buffet is only $5.99/person, that's less than a place like Ponderosa. The pizza sucks (except Mac&Cheese pizza) but it's still really cheap.
There are any number of things I cook at home more expensive than pizza.
Pizza is horrible for you when people insist on piling fifteen pounds of the carcasses of dead animals on it, but that's about it.
is 600 calories and 28 grams of fat, or 42% fat.
And who eats just 2 slices.

http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-pizza-hut-large-thinn-crispy-i54345
It's all in the meat. Two slices of the Pizza Hut thin and crispy cheese pizza only pack 380 calories and 24% fat. If you are going to eat somewhat light for breakfast and lunch, I reassert my opinion that pizza is a perfectly reasonable dinner option, provided you get the right kind of pizza. You may also notice the difference between the Veggie pizza varieties and the meat options in the first link. Again, it's when you start piling the carcasses of dead animals upon the pizza that you get into trouble. It's otherwise not that bad for you.
You can eat twice as much of the cheese pizza with only a 160 calorie and 6% increase in fat.
meat is terrible for your colorectal health
but won't usually contribute much to obesity
when eaten in moderation without carbs.
Quote: WongBocomplex carbs at dinner is a sure way to be overweight.
Pizza is not diet food, lets get real. It sucks for weight loss.
Quote: EvenBobPizza is not diet food, lets get real. It sucks for weight loss.
I agree with that completely, it's certainly not a diet food. I was just saying that it is not an awful dinner option should an individual not explicitly be trying to lose weight. I've lost another fifteen pounds in a few months since going OFF of my diet, and we generally have pizza once/week. The biggest contributor to weight gain, in my humble opinion, is drinking anything with calories. I drink alcohol once per week, but aside from that, I only drink black coffee, Earl Grey tea, Vitamin Water Zero or Kroger brand Zero Calorie Vitamin Enhanced Water Beverage.
I prefer the Kroger brand now, actually. They had $0.75/each on Vitamin Water, but the Kroger brand was running three 20oz bottles for $2.00, so I bought 146 of them when I was there yesterday. The Kroger brand has over twice as many flavors, as well. That will last a few weeks, three, at least because I tend to drink a crapload of coffee throughout the day. My kids also drink the zero-calorie Vitamin Water, even the baby. It's better for them than sugary, "Glorified pop," juice.

I've given up on beverages. All I drink is tap water, filtered
at the store by 6 different processes, including reverse
osmosis. I don't miss all the other crap I drank for decades
at all.
Disagree!Quote: IbeatyouracesNothing can be worse than those $5 Hot and Readys from Little Caesars. Its like eating cardboard.
If you think that's bad, you should try the greasy ketchup covered matzo bread that passes for "pizza" at a joint called Spiritus in Provincetown!! #Worst.Pizza.EverQuote: MrVI was somewhat disappointed with the pizza at the pizza place upstairs and down the hallway at Cosmo: greasy, average.
Certainly no better than the pie at NYNY, near the skybridge to MGM.
So I've been thinking to adapt my green bell pepper fettuccine sauce for that, and to add a moderate amount of grated mozzarella (I seriously doubt drained cottage cheese will melt). Now I just need a reasonable low-fat topping. Of course I'll use onions, but I'd like something else too that's neither chicken nor sausage or cold meats. I'm thinking snow peas and a mix of ground beef and textured soy...
I'm evenly split between using a pre-made base and making my own. I've some ideas for additives to the crust that might prove interesting.
Quote: EvenBobPizza is not diet food, lets get real. It sucks for weight loss.
Anything in moderation is fine. I have been losing weight since the end of May. During the past 6 weeks, I have eaten pizza 4 times. I only eat 2 pieces. If I'm still hungry, I eat fruit. I also drink about 3 beers a week on average. So far, I'm down 14 pounds.
It turns out that dairy will kill you, meat will kill you, complex carbs will kill you, etc. Instead of becomming vegan, I choose to eat what I want in moderation.
Quote: Mission146Perhaps you would be interested in me posting my spinach sauce recipe, let me know!
I hesitate to say yes. I loathed spinach until I tried them raw. Now I love them, but only raw.
Quote: NareedI hesitate to say yes. I loathed spinach until I tried them raw. Now I love them, but only raw.
I also have one with Squash sauce, but it takes twice as long and you have to use a heck of a lot more spices to get anything out of it.

Thanks, but I'm afraid you're running against my very peculiar palate. I neither play nor eat squash :)

Recently I made the decision to try something - not drinking alcohol unless I plan on at least getting buzzed. Since you guys don't know me personally, I'll tell you that I'm a pretty heavy drinker (I guess you could have gleaned that from some of my trip reports, but anyway). Some weekends I'll drink a lot if there's a party or we're hitting the bars or something, others I'll just have a few beers ("a lot" for me is probably 15 beers or the equivalent in whiskey. Then I'm really having some fun :) ). But I also frequently would have a beer or two with dinner or while watching TV on weeknights. Now I'm cutting that out - I don't get enough enjoyment out of 2 or 3 beers to justify the calories.
So my cutoff is 5 servings - if I'm not going to have at least that much, I won't have any. One of my friends said it was a sign of growing up (I just turned 28). I kind of disagree, since I'm basically saying "I will no longer drink in moderation! Only binging!" Anyway, we'll see.
I'm also trying to change how I eat. I decided the best birthday present I could give myself was eating better and exercising more. I'm trying to adhere to Michael Pollan's simple advice: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." Damn it's tough! But there's a nice produce stand that's between my house and my girlfriend's, so I've been stopping there and getting stuff to eat most days. Also I recently discovered that I love the Naked brand carrot juice, which is literally just carrots, nothing else. But a 100 calorie serving (maybe 12oz, not sure?) is $2.50 a pop at my local Safeway (probably cheaper at Freddie's). So I'm thinking about getting a juicer. I love just eating raw carrots too, but carrot juice would be a nice complement to meals.

It's us vegetarians with the peculiar palate, by design, not you. lol

See my blog, most of the recipes are vegetarian. I just don't like many things.

I will check it out later, about to shower for work right now. Do you like falafel? Did you happen to catch my recipe in your thread?
Quote: Mission146Do you like falafel? Did you happen to catch my recipe in your thread?
Yes. And I did. But between chickpeas and the frying it's too fatty for my diet.
(As for Metro, I'll be in the vicinity of the one near Maryland & Tropicana - right across the street from the Pinball Hall of Fame, right? - in a few weeks, but I've heard more about their "meatball sliders" than the pizza.)

How often do you eat cardboard?
While no national chain has amazing pizza, I'll take little caesars crust over any of the others. Now maybe there are places where the pizza sits there for 8-10 hours because noone bought any, that isn't the case where I live.
For those that travel to Caesars Windsor that want a great Pizza I suggest Capri Pizza... how good is it you ask....everytime my brother or I travel home for a visit it is REQUIRED that we order one or two 32 piece SUPERS and bring it back out west. They actually sell so many to people who were originally from Windsor but are just visiting that if you tell them its being taken back to say Alberta tomorrow they only half cook it...that gets the yeast part out of the crust I guess.... then you finish cooking it when you want it back home..... your house smells like the pizziera while its cooking adding to the enjoyment. We freeze it up in freezer bags for shipping

Wow, they are right outside the tunnel and I have passed them many times but have never thought to stop there. Now I will. I usually go to Pizza Pizza, which is pretty good.Quote: coilmanGreat topic .... now I will have to try a place or two while in Vegas beginning of August
