Really, they should put bubblers on the strip in Las Vegas like we have here throughout Portland, Oregon.

It's the right thing to do.

And spare me the drivel about cost and scarcity: hello, Bellagio fountain, Wynn golf course etc.

"What, me worry?"

I doubt you would really choose to drink the reclaimed water used for those applications.

Just a general FYI, bubbler = mini water pipe (for smoking marijuana) as well. I have never heard the term associated with water fountains.
Its - Possessive; It's - "It is" / "It has"; There - Location; Their - Possessive; They're - "They are"

He could pick up one of those survialist water filters and dip it in Lake Bellagio. Just be sure to wear the cami shorts and jungle hat while doing so so the cops don't bother you as they know you are official.

Water is not "free" since:

The meter turns and the casino pays for that
The person who installs water fountains for free keeps calling in sick, ditto the person who cleans them
The vendor who gives the free cups had a truck that broke down
The ice maker that runs on free electrricity is being used for drinks at the bar that produce revenue

The "Obamacare" thing was thrown in to make the point that casinos have costs and those costs keep going up. Yet people demand free water as though it is some kind of right they have from the casinos. Free water and water fountains in casinos should be considered a courtosey for patrons, not a new "right" of some sort.

BTW: I totally buy that Indian and other casinos have free water and fountain drinks and Strip-props don't because of lowlifes who come in for it. A Burger King near me had to rip out the self-serve fountains because nearby section-8 housing residents were taking thousands of gallons of product home with them. Free stuff draws that kind of crowd.

Why would it be? The former is taxing people for a new social program. The later is letting people keep their own money. Tax cuts are not "spending."

Isn't Vegas municipal water one of the worst in the entire country? Why would you want to drink it if you could get a bottle instead?
