If you watch to the end of the video, you’ll see that it is an infomercial. Do you believe everything that a random salesperson tells you?
On a different note, I have a bridge I’d like to sell you…
It’s a dog eat dog world out there…
…or maybe it’s the other way around.

I’ve only been out of the country a couple times and actually my passport is expired right now. But it does seem like going to other countries is turning into a risky endeavor. Semi hostile countries like Russia now seem to see foreign travelers as political tools. They are searched and then potential fabricated charges are brought against them if they think they can leverage that for something. Since you’re in their country you have no rights except to go through their legal system.
Then there is just the typical border crossing and customs that just seem to want to find something they can charge you with and also confiscate your money. The whole process seems like a total power and money grab and the traveler has basically no rights.

Yeah, I get exactly what you mean. Traveling these days definitely feels a lot riskier than it used to — especially to places where the political climate is tense. You’re right: in some countries, foreigners can easily get caught up in situations that have nothing to do with them, just because the government wants leverage or to make a point. And once you’re there, you’re playing by their rules, no matter how unfair they seem.
Even regular border crossings can feel intimidating now — long lines, tons of questions, random searches, and that constant feeling that they’re looking for something to catch you on. It really does take away from what traveling should be about — exploring, learning, and relaxing.
Honestly, I can’t blame anyone for being cautious. It’s not about paranoia; it’s just being realistic about how unpredictable some places have become.
