Trainer Dale Romans has settled on the Clark Handicap, and not the Cigar Mile, as the final career start for Shackleford, the 4-year-old younger half-brother to Afleeting Lady.

Shed not for her
the bitter tear
Nor give the heart
to vain regret
Tis but the casket
that lies here,
The gem that filled it

That would have been a good job for Mike!

Sounds like you're beating a dead horse with this attempt at a joke.

What joke. I cashed a few bets on Shakleford and so did others on this forum. I expect to do the same with his daughter.
I think you are jealous you will never get to retire to stud ?

Ah, but are the quality of mares you cover equality to Shakleford's ? Is someone paying $20,000 for your performance ?

Imagine the women and most likely men whom would actually pay for sex. I think it's always a better situation to be a buyer than a seller and I am not jealous.Quote: BuzzardWhat joke. I cashed a few bets on Shakleford and so did others on this forum. I expect to do the same with his daughter.

I did forget to add the joke was lame, just for the extra kick.

Always had Shakleford on my tickets. Hard trying racehorse. They will start him at 20,000 and he will need to sire a few top class racehorses in the first three foal crops to stay at 20,000. He stands at Darby Dan. They tend to get second line stallions. The knock on Shakleford is that his sire Foresty was not a stallion of stallions.
The great Storm Cat stood for 500,000 and 600,000 a cover for many many seasons. No stand and nurse guarantee. He was booked to 80 mares a season……80 x 600,000= 48,000,000 in stallion fees per year. I believe he had 18 foal crops. The feed bill for Storm Cat and a 3,000 dollar claimer is the same. 5-7 bucks a day. I believe Storm Cat was insured for 50,000,000?
