Video Poker at Longbar at the "D" (nee Fitzgeralds).
Normally expected to be 99.17 percent payback but actually 86.3 percent payback.

And since The D has been open under that name for such a short time... who conducted this "Voted the Best in Vegas" poll?

It's a lousy paytable, but its return is 94.1829%, not 86%.

1-1-3-5-8-10-25-40-80-50-800 is the actual paytable
1-1-3-4-5-08-25-40-80-50-800 is the paytable the blog author analyzed

Okay so I guess the above Egyptian heiroglyphics (well, for my brain at this hour of the day, they might as well be) mean:
99.17 is expected and 94.1829 is offered.

Okay... so same question: How does this get voted the Best in Vegas?

According to vpFREE2, the D has a video poker game which returns 101.6%. That's probably what the casino is using as basis for their claim.

But that's not why I replied. I was trying to point out the blog author's mathematical mistake of saying that a game which returns 94% is only returning 86% — an error which basically invalidates the entire article.

So that's what happened to East Coast Gambler.

The D has decent -- not "best" by any means -- video poker. For a better bar game, go upstairs to the "Vue" bar. Or walk on down to Main Street Station.

There's a positive play in almost every downtown casino. Yes, that includes the Golden Nugget. Still looking for one at Mermaids...maybe the $0.99 hot dog?

I can attest to that. I played it. I even took pictures. See this thread:

But the game play is very slooooooooow, and the denomination is $0.05 with max coin at $0.25

RECAPITULATION:
Although the blog entry continues to have this error in its text, the comments section fully corrects the figure and cites this WoV thread, so the upshot is that the revised figure is still disappointingly low but not as extreme as was first thought.
