Quote: PaigowdanThis thread is fine: we're getting into the casino tricks over here....don't look at this as Player AP, look at it from the casino's point of view, as a potential casino AP play.
Rule-change BJ Promotions generate business, but also generate more errors than advantage play for the most part.
The vast majority of players would profit - IF they don't chase! Too many do indeed....
Casinos have a history of getting the gambling pubic to pay while they play.
This is not utter nonesense as you say, - casinos are very good at getting people to gamble and lose to them via many mechanisms such as this.
And let's say they - the gambling public - played well, without falling for any inducements to make errors. Many would say, "I haven't been here in a while, I did well and I won, - so I will be coming back...."
Dan- you are likely correct that these promos might entice poor players to make poor decisions. But for the bright player, those that this forum tries to cultivate, the added 3 -1 payout is EXACTLY what we are looking for, EXACTLY what we want to figure out the BEST strategy to take advantage of, EXACTLY what we like to talk about. Just like how to take advantage of a slot loss promo, or how to best utilize a match play coupon, etc... No one has been saying that the casino is foolish for allowing this 3-1 promo, just because it is clearly +EV for a bright player. You are likely correct that there are enough dodos out there to make up for the few who will beat the house during this promotional period.
Quote: jeffwarren75Update everyone,........ There were four tables I brought a friend played 6 spots and crushed they cut promo short. Basically you never split aces just hit never double any soft hand and split fives plenty of times to get fives cards in all I hit it 23 times
Great! How long did you play for, and how many 'units' did you win? How 'short' did they cut the promo? Did anyone complain when they cut the promo short? "I just came because of this promo, blah, blah..." I'd guess your game was probably 110% or so. The reason none of the math guys have answered your question is that an entirely different basic strategy would have to be developed to determine the best EV for the player. I'm guessing it entails a lot of work.
they have a different promotion this coming friday which seems interest as well, still trying to see if there is an edge but i beleive it might even be bigger then this one
Well done!Quote: jeffwarren75playing 100 dollar flat bets- ended up plus 62 units

Niiiiiice. I'm curious if you computed the correct basic strategy, or if you just played it by hunches for the promo? If you didn't compute the exact correct BS, did you at least estimate what you thought the correct BS would be, and stick to that consistently?
The thread refers to paying 3:1. But often people use the term 3:1 when the 3 includes getting back the initial bet, ie they talk about 2:1 payoff.
If it was indeed 3:1 then I think this was a really good promotion with a very good Ev for using correct BS and the BS would change dramatically, even more than the BS chart on Wizzard website for the even money payoff.
I get a player advantage of 1.39%, giving overall about a 2% bump to the player side.
