Bettor: Machines ripped me off
Now if a new forum member posted about "Disappearing Credits" while playing; I wonder if he/she would have been given a fair shot or labeled as a lying troll....
DONT PLAY VLT MACHINES! hahaah
Quote: rdw4potusSaratoga is the only place I've ever been backroomed. I did something there that I've done at least 100 times at other casinos (including other NYRA properties) without incident. Saratoga both detained me and threatened to withhold payment of a slot ticket after I took the $20s that their ATM spit out and put them through a slot so that the bill changer could give me $100s. I didn't want to wait in the long line at the cashier, but I ended up waiting in that line twice and also spending about 20 minutes in the backroom. It was less than awesome.
I don't understand what happened here. You took a $20 and a slot ticket and put that into a kiosk, and somehow that triggered a security alert?

If they miss you taking the $20's out of their ATM it looks an awful lot like money laundering. I understand the mistake by the casino, but it's something that should be cleared up instantaneously.

I was leaving the casino and I wanted $500 as 5 $100 bills for the next day (I was driving to AC for a conference). I went to the ATM, which gave me 25 $20 bills. The cashier had a 20 person line, so I went to a slot machine, put in the 25 $20 bills, and printed a ticket. Then the kiosk wouldn't take the ticket, so I did go to the cashier. The cashier alerted security, who backroomed me on suspicion of money laundering. They threatened to confiscate the slot ticket. I told them to watch the tape of me walking from their ATM to their slot machine with nothing but that $$ in my hand, and they finally let me go back to the cashier and get my 5 $100 bills.
Quote: The article postedCyndie Wade-Wood had suspected electronic slot machines at Saratoga Casino and Raceway were occasionally deducting money from her cash totals between bets and not reimbursing her for some winnings. Dissatisfied with the staff's responses to her concerns, the Warren County marketing executive secretly recorded her VLT plays on a cellphone during a recent casino stop.
The part I love is that she willingly played the VLT's, thinking they were deducting money from her credits... yet she continued to go back there. If you suspect that a place is shady, why on earth would you continue to patronize the business. I realize in THIS case that she went to secretly videotape the machines in action, but it seems as though she had been there numerous times before.
As far as the comment about a new member, the OP provided a link to an article. Had Ms. Wade-Wood gotten on here and started blabbing on about how the casino is unfair without providing ANY information, time or dates or exact dollar amounts, then yes, she would have gotten the same treatment. When you can't keep your facts straight (if you have any at all) and you have zero proof to show what you are saying is true, then there is reason to doubt the stories.
In this case, she provides a link to videos and filed a complaint with the right channels... I have no reason to doubt her story. I do laugh at the fact that the first response was "No Cameras allowed" which does kind of allow for a counter suit, should she have pursued the wrong channels.
So who is Spielo anyway... top manufacturer of VLT's???

Its the casinos responsibility to see that the games on their floor are fair and legal.
The videos show you loosing 31.60 1.(44.80-28.80) $16 2.(54.80-35.20) $15.60
If the frequency is even less than moderate this could be pretty lucrative for an unscrupulous casino.
Their response is pathetic, weather its a glitch or out right cheating either way they are at fault.
Quote: CydwadeHi there... it's me, the one in the story. I went back specifically to prove what I was being told was a cloud of smoke screen and to protect other people from being ripped off....
Welcome!

Also, welcome to the forum!
It is nice to see somebody who doesn't believe the casinos are inherently there to rip off the players. You provide good documentation, followed the proper channels, and were successful in proving what you set out to prove. All too often, many people don't have the necessary paper trail (or media trail in your case) to garner a serious inquiry. The stories are often "I may have played x amount of credits," then when questioned, becomes "I'm not sure how much I played."
How often did you play at the casino before you noticed the trend? My response about how you went back (less the time to video tape, I get that one) is spurned from the fact that people on here often say the casino is cheating them, time and time again. My philosophy is once I feel that, I won't return. I guarantee you I will never enter the casino you are talking about... period.
Again, great work! I applaud your effort.

There is a degree of truth in that statement. The responsibility to make sure customer's are receiving their credits falls on the casino. However, gaming manufacturers are responsible for setting payout chips and ensuring the machines are set to operate properly. It's the legally correct thing to say, but in your situation, it's completely uncalled for and misleading.
"American Coin Scandal" all over again and that was back in the 1980s.Quote: TiltpoulHowever, gaming manufacturers are responsible for setting payout chips and ensuring the machines are set to operate properly.
So, no state gaming board making sure the slots in casinos and made by manufacturers of slots are on the level?
It is up to a single slot player to complain and show the proof.
Let us see.
The casino and slot manufactures make money from the rigged slots.
The state makes money from the rigged slots.
Everyone but the players make money from the rigged slots.
Oh, wait, they say it was just a software error that has been fixed.
Fixed by and for whom?
All BS IMO and everyone knows it.
Yep, American Coin Scandal all over again. Packaged just slightly different.

As with making most claims, it certainly does help to have some evidence to back it up. Something obviously screwy going on.
