Today we jump on over the vast expanses of the Indian Ocean all the way to the land of the long, white cloud. Of course I'm speaking of Aotearoa (Maori for New Zealand). I have been there several times and apart from the big casino in Auckland, the Christchurch casino is the only other local spot I have been to. An interesting story was to be had here. They would not allow me to enter their premesis with that they described as "tattered jeans". I had to pull a huge pair of black formal pants over my jeans for me to be allowed entry into the casino. A friend of mine has a pic of this nightmare on his Facebook account but I cannot seem to find it. A real pity as it is quite funny.
The casino is a big, square room with zero atmosphere. There was a mix of blackjack, roulette, 3 Card Poker and CSP. Those were all the games they had available.
The pics I got from the internet have proven a pain to upload, so no casino pic today.

The chip is a cheap plastic chip with the mould indents still clearly visible on the outside rim. It is a yellow color with the card suits around the outside. It laso has one of those rims round the inside of the chip.

I believe I only played blackjack here and must have received this chip on some funny blackjack payout I got. I played very little because my pants were uncomfortable and I was dying of the heat.
I love NZ, but if I never go back to Christchurch, I won't be too sad!
NOTE: Again, sorry about the orientation. I tried everything within Photobucket. Some chips just won't edit correctly.

What exactly are you apologizing for? The last two chip pictures from you looked fine to me.

Tom, we already have a category of "Asia", represented for the moment only by NagaWorld Casino, though I hope we get a number of additions. How about just "Australia" to represent that continent, including New Zealand? Showing my geographical and cultural limitations, I ask, "Is there a better term?"

If we start getting posts of chips from the smaller Pacific islands, I'm not sure what the category should be. Up to now, I've been trying to stick to continents for casinos outside of the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. (Other exceptions have been Cruise Ships and Chinese New Year Commemoratives.) We've recently had an offer of a chip from Mexico; I guess I should list that as a category then, but I suspect it will never be more than a very small set of chips.

I don't really have a stake in how you categorize chips, but I did a quick Wikipedia search and New Zealand is not considered to be part of the continent of Australia.

I guess that fits in with my asking whether there is a better term. When I was in elementary school, we studied (?) Australia as one of the seven continents, but we weren't very clear on how to categorize a lot of other lands. Should Australia and New Zealand casinos be in separate categories? Should I have a category of "Oceania"? If so, should that include Australia?

I arrive in Vegas at 11pm on Thursday. what I'd really like to do is go to Carson City on Sunday evening and drive back on Monday. But I need to check the table games hours at the casino I need/want to visit to make sure they're open then. If the tables are fri/sat only, then I may go Friday. I need to determine the table games hours, then figure out if I'd drive or fly from Vegas to Reno. It's possible that I can swing both, but I'd hate to organize the Friday meet and then not attend it.

FWIW, I was at the Gold Dust West last Saturday night around 8PM and the craps table was open with divider, 1 single bj, 1 double bj, and 3CP were open. Not crowded at all, but bowling alley was packed.

I think "Oceania" should be included, and separate from Australia (even though Australia is on the CIA World Fact Book map of "Oceania"). You could title the category "Australia/New Zealand".

What about the Philippines and Singapore? Are they in "Asia"? or should they have their own categories (assuming someone has chips to share).

I think that rdw4potus is particularly interested in the Carson Nugget Station (Edit: memory glitch). I played $1 craps there at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday last September.

Wow, I think this joint takes the prize for, "Casino Name Not Picked By The Marketing Department", with "Moron Go" in California now a distant runner-up.

Are the "circles" near the edge of the ring divots or bumps? I suspect they are left over from the injection molding process, and are a sign of a really low-budget product.

Personally I think we should keep them to "gaming jurisdictions". Australasia is a perfect description for Australia, NZ and Oceania.
Philippines should have their own category because they are a large gaming market so to should Singapore (even though they only have two casinos).

Otherwise we should label all those casinos "Asia".

Up to you guys!

Yeah those circles are divots, which is why I explained the product as extremely cheap in my write up :)
