I thought you were going to drive
I really thought about it but I will be in a meeting until about noon in Tacoma. I have to be at the conference in Vegas at 7am the next day. Just would not have worked out well. I am still going to get a bunch in Seattle/Tacoma while I am there.
Pretty sure it's closed. It's not listed on https://www.wsgc.wa.gov/licensing/search-license/licensees?combine=&field_city_tid_selective=All&field_county_tid_selective=All&field_file_type_id_tid_selective=1868 .Quote: GWAEAny experts about Washington? Chip guide lists a Happy Days casino in Lakewood as open but the website does not work. Casino city does not list this casino at all and a google search comes up pretty empty. Does this place exist?

GWAE,
You asked a while back about hotels. I haven't been up there in too long, but the area around the airport was NOT anywhere you wanted to be, back in the day. I would think you'd want to book nearer to Tacoma, and catch the casinos north of the airport first, then work your way south to Tacoma area.
Miplet lives up there somewhere. I thought perhaps he could give you a more current idea.

Oh really. That is interesting. Normally airport area is my goto for hotels. I cant recall those areas ever being a bad area.
Quote: GeoducknCrabI live between Tacoma and Seattle. Happy Days did close about 3 years ago. The airport area is safe but there is nothing there for tourists. There are a few small casinos / card rooms within 5 miles of the airport. You will find four mini-casinos near I-5 in south Tacoma. Great American, Macau, Chips, and the Palace. North of Tacoma is the native casino, Emerald Queen which is reopening in a new building next year, but you will find two separate buildings, one at the Puyallup exit, and one (machines only) at the Fife exit of I-5.
Thank you GEO. It appears that the casinos in WA are mostly smaller ones. There is one in a bowling alley and a few that look like they are in a restaurant (Not like normal when a restarant is in a casino)
Silver Dollar Seatac is a typically WA card room and is literally on the main street that runs outside the airport (International Blvd.). Other card rooms that are close include those mentioned in Tukwila as well as the Great American Casino at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton in Des Moines (that is about 4 miles south of the airport). The Great American card room properties (Tukwila & Des Moines are the two closest) have been taken over by Maverick Gaming in 2019, so not sure if they will have GA chips or be switched over to Maverick).
Maverick also took over the Macau (closest in Tukwila for you) and Casino Caribbean properties (closest in Kirkland and where Lucky Stiff Blackjack got its start in 2014!). Also taken over by Maverick is Crazy Moose (Mountlake Terrace) north of Seatac by about 30 miles (any trip north, you are going to need to time as driving through Seattle is a bear).
If time/traffic is a factor, I would rule out going north and hit all the Seatac/Tukwila/Des Moines properties (like 6 of them), go south to Emerald Queen and Muckleshoot and maybe do a trip East to Casino Caribbean & Snoqualmie (avoiding Seattle, but Caribbean would require going through Bellevue). You could hit upwards of 12 properties and still stay within 30 miles of Seatac.
Quote: PokerGrinderOh heads up GWAE there are two chips to collect in Muckleshoot. Two separate casinos using two separate sets of chips, Muckleshoot 1 and 2.
Thank you, I did read that last night on your post when you added them on here
How bad is traffic in Seattle in the evening. I am still putting my plan together but I was thinking of going (this is off the top of my head looking at google maps, list is at home)
air port landing at 4.
tukwila
renton
take the 405 to the north (avoiding Seattle traffic?)
Mountlake
Shoreline
back through seattle at 10-11ish (no idea on time as I havent fully mapped it but thats my guess)
Burien
Des Moines
Hotel around midnight-1am near tacoma.
After meeting if time, hit the ones near tacoma and back to airport by 2.
Is that a little aggressive?
Quote: PokerGrinderIt really depends on if you hit traffic. Obviously rush hour will slow your progress so I would try to be doing very little driving around that time.
That's why I was thinking 405 might be better since it is away from the city.

The one thing that I can not determine is how long I will be in each casino. I dont have the same rule as some of you where I have to wager the $1, I just have to get it from the casino. Normally when there is a big six or craps table it is easy to do. On these tiny casinos it might be a little tougher, not sure if there will be a good spot to just pick up a chip. If I have to sit down and play or anything then I won't be able to hit as many.
I have 32 places on my list. Drive time with no traffic is 3 hours. Even if I spend 10 minutes at each that is 5 hours plus 3 for driving. If I get in rental car at 5pm then that puts me back to my hotel at 1am and that is no traffic, not getting lost, and only spending 10 min at each. Depending on parking and walking from lot that may be way under estimated. If I drop the northern casinos it will only cut out 8 from my list but will cut an hour of drive time. Looking at the current traffic delays it looks like both sides are heavy with Bellevue and Seattle areas having some red spots on the map.
I just read your Roxys review and it made me laugh that you had a hard time cashing out because the cashier kept stepping away. I am guessing at places like this it is going to take me longer to get the chip and I might actually have to play.
Land at 4PM
Burien
Tukwila
Des Moines
South to Muckleshoot (Dinner options are decent, BSB is good and relatively fast)
South to Emerald Queen
North to Shoreline using I-5 (Seattle traffic should have cleared by then)
Head Northwest to Silver Dollar Mill Creek
I-405 South to Casino Caribbean in Kirkland (they have a Poker Room & Casino, but think they share chips?)
I-405 South to I-90 East to hit Snoqualmie
I-90 West to I-405 South
Renton
Back to Airport Hotel
If your meeting is in Tacoma, Emerald Queen is right there at Exit 136 I believe. Maybe you don't have to get that far south the day you land if you can hit it post meeting (will depend a bit on what Google Maps tells you drive north looks like at the time). You can also hit Seatac Silver Dollar on the way back to airport.
Here was my planned route
Silver Dollar Seatac
Wizards Casino
Macau Casino Tukwila
Riverside
Fortune Tukwila
Great American Tukwila
Freddies Club of Renton
Fortune Renton
Silver Dollar Renton
Great American Kent
Emerald Downs Auburn
Iron Horse
Mucklshoot 1 and 2
Freddies of Fife
Emerald Queen
Great American Lakewood
Macau Lakewood
Palace
Chips Casino
Freddies of Renton is now the Fortune Casino
Quote: GeoducknCrabFreddies of Fife is closed

thank you, that is helpful. Info is not very good on sites. chip guide shows everything is open still, even ones that I have found closed.
Quote: PokerGrinderChip guide is really bad about marking closed ones as closed. I do a lot of prep research before my trips.
I used to be really active on the chip guide and chip board. On the chip board we used to have a yearly poker league. Not sure if they still do it. I won in 2011 or 2012, cant remember which. I have a trophy still sitting on my desk. I thought it was much more accurate than it appears to be.
Quote: PokerGrinderOh that really sucks GWAE. Stupid work lol.
yeah tell me about it. How dare I not have to pay for flight or expenses and have to use some of the time for work stuff.

They do still have the poker league. I dont participate much at all on the board (I think Ive posted 3-4 times over all these years) but I visit it daily for casino news reasons. They always seem to know first about name changes or new casinos.
Quote: GWAEThis is stupid. Just got off phone and are having dinner in Tacoma at 7pm. Probably will go until 9. I am thinking about cancelling my room and just driving around all night. A bunch of crap that they are interrupting my chip collecting.
Yikes youre crazy, I know neither RDW or I would ever collect chips until we are driving without the ability to see straight.
Jokes aside be safe bud.

all seriousness I would not do that. I will be flying across country so I will be on eastern time too so I will be extra tired. I am thinking meeting them and after dinner grab the ones that are near tacoma. After my meeting I will still have time to hit a few on the way to the airport. I wont be able to get the 20 that I wanted but I should still be able to get 10. I will also be returning out there in 6 months so I already plan on making it a long weekend to see some sights and get other chips.

Yeah, this plan is not dangerous enough. I vote stay out most of the night, collect all the chips, crash for like 3 hours, go to the meeting, and if they ask why you look like death just tell them it's jetlag.

My only concern would be not waking up.
The part that makes it tough is meeting in Tacoma. My route was mostly between airport and tacoma. I dont want to backtrack.
No casinos in Taiwan or Brunei.
;-)
Has GWAE ever indicated how many chips he anticipated collecting on this trip that would be new items for the CCotD thread? How about it, GWAE? (He's probably still busy trying to get the chips clean enough to photograph!)
Quote: PokerGrinderMy money is they are still sitting in his backpack... I have no inside information though. I promise!
lmao... sure sure. They are not only still in my backpack; I am not even sure where my backpack is.

You got an actual laugh out loud with that one, bravo!
life is easy when you still live with Mommy and Daddy and have full access to a popcorn store.Quote: PokerGrinderOh that really sucks GWAE. Stupid work lol.
Even a guy like ZK no longer lives with his parents. I don't even think Nathan still lives with her parents.
😁😁😁
They own more than one????Quote: PokerGrinderAlso you have a weird obsession with the fact that my parents own popcorn stores lol.
