[The statement in question is:
Quote:

In 1992 in Gdynia (Poland) in Jackpol Casino, Paweł Piskorski (Polish politician, former Secretary General of Platforma Obywatelska and Member of European Parliament, today Leader of Stronnictwo Demokratyczne) claimed to have won 4,950,000,000 zloty (approximately $175,000 today). This, at least, was the explanation he gave to the revenue office for his income that year. The claim is implausible, because the house maximum at that time was 1,000,000 zloty: he would have had to have won 138 times in succession, with each bet set at the house maximum.

That conclusion is false. The author didn't know about the "full complete" bet structure for roulette which, ironically, is described elsewhere on the page.

As much as most people rely upon it (myself included), Wikipedia is not a trustworthy source.

The reason for that is simple. ANYONE can edit it.

While there are certain checks in place to attempt to verify entries and edits, errors do slip thru.

So if you think there is an error, go ahead and fix it!

True, but its not as easy to get the edit to stay there.
I know from experience. Wiki has moderators and they
examine all edits and if yours is not tagged to a source
(a good source) it will be struck down and you'll be
warned. IMO, Wiki is more trustworthy than a regular
encyclopedia, which are chock full of factual errors
that nobody ever bothers to correct. I have edited many
Wiki articles and its like pulling teeth sometimes.

Understood, but considering that the article contradicts itself, wouldn't that in itself be sufficient?

Click on 'history' and it looks like that paragraph has never
been edited before. Go ahead and change it and see what
happens. Nobody probably spotted it before. They don't have
a source for it, that alone will get it taken off if challenged.

The casino could have also just raised the limits for him, that logic is like going from point A to point C while assuming a variable B to be a constant.
Its - Possessive; It's - "It is" / "It has"; There - Location; Their - Possessive; They're - "They are"
