I did this game a logn time ago on another forum and Id like to host it on this forum. Its basicly the "popularity game"- each week Ill provide a scenario/question to which there will be between 3 and 5 prepaired responces. The players select one of the choices and **Private Message** me your answer. At the end of that weeks question I tally up the points- after so many weeks/rounds a winner is declaired.

The opbject of the game is to always be part of the most popular answer- it may not always be the "best" or "correct" answer. For example.

Question #1- What color felt is used at most casinos?
Answer A- Green - 15 choose this answer
Answer B- Red- 5 choose this answer
Answer C- Blue- 1 chose this answer
Answer D- White (Id like to see white and black) - 0 chose this answer

After this round everyone who chose answer A recieved 15 points, B- 5 points, and C 1 point.

Usually I do 10 rounds or do an elimination style game. So what do you think, anyone interested?

I'll pass. I always try to answer correctly, so I wouldn't be a contender. How about the big prize being for the worst score?

You cant answer correctly on alot of my questions because alot of my questions are personal opinion and option. When I did this in a Law enforcement forum the options were all valid or acceptable (most fo the time) it was more of a mater of personal preferance. Something like- you stop a car for speeding- 10 over the limit, after searching the car you find a very small amoutn of pot- the subject is 19 yoa, and does not appear to have any previous violations or an arrest record... do you a) give him a speeding ticket B) take him to jail for possesion C) give him a criminal citation D) destroy the contraband and give a speeding cite or E) give a warning for the speed, a small lecture on everything he was doing and destroy the contraband.

All of the answers are acceptable (althought some agencies or states might have policies/laws against one or another) in general they are all acceptable meathods.. what would you do?

Your description reminds me of the intelligence tests asking that you pick the best answer. Always thought they were ridiculous
and that I could make a better argument for my incorrect answer than the ......... who wrote the question could for his correct answer.

I had the same situation in the late 70s in my High School Computer Science class. The teacher recognized that I really understood the subject to the point where he wouldn't even grade my test papers, and I would deliberately answer test questions wrong - along with my proof for my answer. If anyone else got the same answer as I did, they would be marked correct.

I would like to play too, but this site has taught me not to wade into any games without a thorough analysis of the game, the proper strategy, and most impotant, what is the HA and EV. Anyone want to take this one on?

Isn't the prize nothing but gragging rights? if so, then the HA=0, and EV=fun. How much do you value fun?

Well, since I play craps for fun, I guess the answer is about $1000

I'd like to play as well.

This reminds me of the old Bezerk network game "Cosmic Consensus", which was later renamed "What's the Big Idea?", and remade as "Discordi"... all of which are down now. :(

The players would all answer questions or fill in the blank, and the most popular answers would advance them up the "Ziggurat", a game board with score values and wildcard spaces, such as "Back to Start" and "Advance 2 spaces". The player with the highest score after someone reached the top, plus one more subsequent multi-answer question, would be the winner.

Example multi-answer question: "Name 3 Spice Girls". The top 3 answers would score 3, 2, or 1 spaces, for a possible 6-step advancement up the Ziggurat. Fun game altogether. That and Acrophobia. Those were the days.

Yeah, I'm playing. :)

for me EV= humbling defeat divided by zero [a denominator chosen because that is how much I care]

thus, for me, EV= undefined

plus I could always get lucky

Well; considering the likeness already recieved by the members of the site- I guess tomarrow would not be a bad start.. so I may post it as early as tonight or tomarrow afternoon. Ill leave it up for about a week Im guessing- give enough time for everyone whos going to play to answer but not so long its forgotten about. If it goes a couple days wihtout a reply before then I may go ahead and tally it up.

I think Ill just simply make it 10 rounds long and the one with the highest number of points after 10 rounds is declaired WoV Mr./Mrs. Popularity- if there is a tie after the 10th round with points, the tie breaker will be, in the sprit of the website, a round of blackjack- Ill deal out the cards after an honest randomization of the cards and ask on the thread if the player wishes to hit or stand- the winner will be the player who gets closest to 21 without going over between all who are tied- if they are still tied whoever did it in fewest cards (with a natural BJ being tops)- if its STILL tied Ill go by whoever was delt the first spade then heart, then club then diamond. - SOMEONE WILL WIN BY THEN lol.

I'd probably be willing to wager that you have a fairly large number of un-read threads. (They appear with titles in bold in the Recent Threads list.) If no one has posted to a thread since you last read it, that thread will be listed after all of your un-read threads, possibly several pages later. So my guess is that when you next go to the Recent Threads list, this thread will appear early in the list (since I am posting to it right now). Then, after you read this post (and maybe post yourself), it will again drop way down and not be immediately visible to you. Just a guess.

OK- this is just a bump to remind everyone of the rules- or outline- the first round will be starting shortly
