"Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are making history by headlining the first-ever all women’s card here at The Mecca of boxing, MSG."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I love boxing in general.
Admittedly, even more so, I'm a sucker for big events like this, even when I know they're a joke. Of course, this isn't a joke. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are certainly legit, and they have had some epic fights with controversial decisions.
My wife enjoys watching boxing with me as well, especially big events like this.
We plan on watching all the matches and making a night of it.
I have quite a few bets that will complete some rollover requirements.
While a bit unusual for watching a boxing match, I'm planning on setting up a big tent near the edge of our river, a fire pit for some BBQ a mini refrigerator to keep stuff cold. I'll add in an inflatable mattress along with some pillows.
I'm going to bring two fully charged Bluetti Power banks and a big screen TV, along with an internet router if the signal doesn't reach.
Perhaps I'll get some fishing in after I set everything up.
I'll bring some leftover fireworks. I saved one especially for my wife. Supposedly, it shoots out a princess that floats back to the ground via a parachute. I somehow don't think we'll be able to find it or get to it once it comes down.

Female Boxers and Female MMA fighters are generally taken VERY seriously. It is Female WRESTLERS who are generally seen as jokes. On the old IMDb Messageboards for WWE shows, a LOT of Wrestling Fans said that they use the Women's matches to pee and make sandwiches, whereas they ALWAYS watch the Men's Matches. The bad thing is, a lot of Female WWE Wrestlers look more like eye candy, and do a LOT of weak moves like lightly slapping each other and pulling hair.
A FEW WWE Female Wrestlers were ACTUALLY brawlers who could fight head on with the male Wrestlers like Lita/Amy Dumas. Lita was aggressively PUNCHING her opponents, not lightly slapping and pulling hair. WWE fans admitted they actually liked Lita's brawl style of wrestling. Lita also took beat downs REALLY well, not even shedding a tear. She took a chair beating from her protecting her Boyfriend from.his enemies and took a Pedigree full force without even TRYING to protect herself like most male Wrestlers did when getting hit with Pedigrees. She even got her head knocked full force into a ladder by Edge and NONE of these instances did she shed even one tear. Lita even LOOKED tough, she certainly wasn't eye candy. Lita could have been a Female Boxer or MMA fighter if she wanted to. Lita certainly wasn't eye candy Barbie like Kelly Kelly/Barbara Jean Blank was. Kelly Kelly mostly did the slap/pull hair routine, certainly wasn't a tough street brawler wrestler like Lita was.

There was a reason for that: back in the late 1990s/early 2000s, in the WWE at least, being "eye candy" was their job - that's why they were hired. You got the occasional woman who had some idea what she was doing in the ring (e.g. Medusa Miceli/Alundra Blayze), but most of them left "sports entertainment" to go to an organization where they were treated like wrestlers - there is a famous incident where Miceli, who was the WWE women's champion at the time, went to WCW, and, on live TV, dropped the WWE women's championship belt into a trash can. It was not until 2016 that Lita, live on a WrestleMania pre-show, not only unveiled a new women's championship belt, but announced that the women would no longer be referred to as "divas" but as "superstars" like the men. (WWE had stopped calling its wrestlers "wrestlers" in the late 1990s, mainly because they were not so much athletes as "sports entertainers.")

And before that, lady wrestlers walked a thin line sometimes regarding TV broadcast standards and community standards. Women being beaten up, in brief costumes, restrained against their will, forced into submission. Some of the moves used by men would be deemed risque and provocative in a women's match. Seems absurd now but as late as the 60s the Hays Code was taken seriously and performers could be arrested on stage if the local authorities thought their act was lewd and someone complained.

Yep, a lot of my post focused on how Lita was a woman who was an aggressive street brawler who was punching people, and even getting into fights with MEN not doing silly things like lightly slapping and pulling hair. 😀
