We waste so much as a society and it’s apparently the cause of homelessness, but, it means nothing else other than we can afford to waste stuff and people will always take advantage of that
Thats ignorant.

God is actually rewarding them because he has people like you giving them free stuff all the time so they can keep their lifestyle going. How long do you think they'd remain homeless if people stop giving them crap all the time. I can guarantee you they wouldn't be homeless very long they'd move on to find something else. I know exactly how these people think cuz I dealt with them every day for 3 years. We are just chumps to them that they can live off of.

Are you saying that if I stop feeding them, they'll move on and homelessness will be cured? Or is this just another EB nutterbuger where you say a lot without actually saying anything?

You as a single person have nothing to do with anything. It's society as a whole that treats whole sections of it as victims and keeps them in perpetual victimhood. My only point was don't think that they view you as some kind of a hero because you give them a few things. They think of you it's just another chump who enables them to keep living their lifestyle. You are an enabler, plain and simple. If that lights your fire and floats your boat, oh well. Elon Musk said it pretty well a few weeks ago that giving away money constructively is one of the hardest things he does. Because it's very easy just to throw money at something when you have a lot of it and think you're doing good when there's a pretty strong chance all you're doing is keeping the problem going. And that works on every level of charity. Like I said before I used to do this when I lived in California until I found out how they really thought about me then I said screw you, and I quit.
They aren't cats. I don't expect them to lionize me because I feed them.
If you find out how the forum really feels about you, will you quit here?

California has nothing to do with anything, it's just where I got to know homeless people. If we have them in West Michigan I've never seen them. Not anywhere not once. I'm sure there are some but living here in the winter would be a nightmare, it was five below zero two nights ago.

Religion is the middle man between individuals and God. I'm not big on religion, but I'm big on God. "I've read the great philosophies of
Plato, Christ and Socrates, and I live by most their rules".
I contribute to a number of religious charities that do work in areas I support. I believe in the mission of St. Judes and have not seen evidence of dishonesty. I work with a man who supplies nanny goats to young girls in Mexico and don't think he's pocketed a penny beyond his basic needs. I can understand disliking religion, but you really should respect the men and women who dedicate their lives to helping their fellow men. The vast majority of them have good intentions.
We have pointed out that feeding wildlife in this manner is illegal. We have told her that forestry experts claim that feeding the wildlife in this way is hurtful to the animals in the long term; and that no experts claim that it is helpful.
My friend doesn't care what we say. Feeding the wildlife gives her pleasure. It makes her feel as if she is being virtuous; she is showing compassion for the poor deer. "I LOVE animals." she says.
I won't belabor the obvious parallelism.

Yes that is true. I learned that as a former Catholic schoolboy. We even had a song we sung it as, and the melody stays with me to this day. For technical theological reasons I do not practice, but I am thankful for the good education and moral background I got from the Church.
As I became older and more experienced, I learned about 3 different Goods- look good, feel good, and do good. Most of us like to look good and feel good, and we can usually recognize which things do that. And we often confuse looking good and feeling good with doing good, as what actually does good is harder for us to distinguish. Sometimes we are like children with candy and cake, convinced that what tastes good, to us, is what we should be eating. Or perhaps like the bums themselves who, at least at one time, believed the feel-good they got from their drugs and alcohol actually did them good. Only those of us watching, who were not deceived by the feeling the substances were giving, could see what they were really doing.
In advantage play itself these 3 Goods have to remain clarified and distinguished. There is that which will make me look like a stud and a high roller at the table. There is that which will make me feel like a champion. And then there is that which is actually +EV.

Yes, they are unhoused or homeless.
I'm headed up to Old Scottsdale and then historic Payson for a few days. Last month, I picked up a 1930s-era birdhouse built in the likeness of the Payson tavern. The current owners offered me $300 for it if it is authentic. I don't think the market for depression era birdhouses has reached the point where people are knocking them off.
Quote: billryanIt was gorgeous outside today, hitting 85 with a gentle breeze of a few miles. I took my electric bike out for a ride along the dry river bed. I went about three miles up and back, handing out eight bags of food, and easily could have given a dozen more.

As somebody who was in that business and still sort of am, they knock off everything. And you need to be an expert to tell the difference. They are really good at aging wood and metal now.
With winter just about over and spring training about to open, I can concentrate on my primary mission—feeding my homeless neighbors. I can increase my food purchases by a third and still save money. I'll still stockpile some winter gear when the price is right, so next winter won't shock my funding.
I was also able to pick up 1,000 to-go bags from Texas Steakhouse. They were rejected by corporate for the colors not being right, and the printer sold them at auction. I'd been using string bags that cost me just over fifty cents, but these bags cost one cent each, saving me five dollars for every ten bags I distributed.
I bought and distributed 36 sleeping bags from 12-15. Each sleeping bag cost the equivalent of about a dozen bags of food, so I need to work out my priorities for next winter.
I looked at a portable shower truck, but the cheapest one was over fifty thousand dollars, so I might have to wait until I find some angel investors.
Almost every bag I distribute has both a tuna salad pouch and a Jacks Links version of a Slim Jim. As I went through two gross of each, I think I can say with confidence I have distributed over three hundred bags since mid-December. Roughly a third of those had either a banana or an orange. Bananas work great; they are cheap and nutritious but don't last long. I'll pick up two dozen, and by the fourth day, they are going bad.
I'd been throwing thirty dollars a week in my gas tank but my new electric car cost a fraction of that. I've been stockpiling bottled water and have nine cases in hand, but dehydration contributed to hundreds of deaths last summer, so I anticipate the water demand will skyrocket soon.

I've heard a rumor that this sometimes indicates a worn out mouse button, so that a single click "bounces" and registers as a double click. Adjusting double-click speed in either mouse or pointer settings (if available) may help.

It's important to keep those homeless people alive and in their place so they never improve their lives they just keep depending on you and people like you so you can continually pat yourself on the back and feel like a hero. They even have a name for it.
"Hero Syndrome or Savior Complex, when someone continually strives to be the hero of the situation."
This is why you have the need to post about it here all the time because you want everybody to know what a hero you are, it's part of the hero complex syndrome. Look it up, it's a very entertaining read.

Yes. And to respond to your subsequent post, yes.
Chromebooks work with most USB keyboards and mice, including the 2.4 ghz "wireless" dongle keyboards and mice. Many chromebooks also support bluetooth, should you prefer to get a bluetooth keyboard (and/or mouse) and keep the USB ports dongle-free.

That's not true at all. It's just a saying that people use and usually has no meaning at all. Instead of saying I was an idiot for doing something, people will say to tell the truth this is why I did it. Now if somebody says I'm not going to lie to you, or I would never lie to you, or I'm not going to lie, or any variation of that those are people you have to watch out for. I watch a lot of police videos and guilty people say that all the time to the cops they must hear it 100 times a day. If somebody says it to me, I automatically say back to them, does that mean you usually lie and you're not going to do it this time? I don't lie so it never even occurs to me to preface anything with any of that.
