There are also studies claiming an over abundance of data is causing mental problems, including a study by Standford that says data can increase stress. https://web.stanford.edu/~perssonp/Attention_Manipulation_Aug2017.pdf
Is it possible, that multiples of over stress is partially to blame for increased school shootings?
I don't see the benefit to kids being constantly plugged in to the www, where if parents want to be able to communicate 24/7 with their children, a dumb phone might be better than the newest I phone?
Quote: petroglyphThere are many articles claiming the exposure to radio/electric waves causes harm to brains and health.

I just started College when the Iphone came out. But I didnt get my first cell phone until i was 17..which for then was a little late, because many of my friends had a cell phone freshman year..I remember all they were good for was snake and brick breaker since text limits were still a thing..I had a TI-83 for that (it had better games too)
Now-a-days every kid has one...my friend is a 3rd grade teacher...she has a shoe cubby on her door so the kids can put their phones away so they learn without interruptions...she said 2/3rds of these kids have more than just a smart phone....many have Ipads, smart watches, tablets etc...(1 kid has a dumb phone btw)
Some kids are responsible enough to use phones responsibly, while others will need a bit more supervision and guidance. Just know your kid, and know how much trust he can be given.
I have an ATT service and a Note 4 phone, well I did, but it got lost/stolen AGAIN the other day. I tracked it down to some trailer/RV park in Arizona, but I can't pinpoint the exact location and they could have been mobile.Quote: Nathan"Dumb phones," are actually better than "Smartphones," in and after natural disasters. For example, I had a smartphone that was out of service for like 3 days after Hurricane Irma. However, a guy who had a TracFone dumb phone still had a working cellphone. Dumb phones are a smart phone when it comes to natural disasters. ;)
Anyways, I also have the Walmart Stright Talk service and a Samsung Galaxy Sky. I get way better service from the Straight Talk (is that Verizon?) than ATT, especially when traveling.
I'm a big fan of the $45/$55 a month no contract Walmart Streight talk service.

I personally tried the "Find my phone," test and it said my phone was somewhere around my area but didn't tell the exact house. I can see owners of the phone knocking on nearby homes demanding their cellphone back and being treated to a real life version of "Get off my lawn," by Clint Eastwood. ;) :O
I have a feeling the only lawns around this place are the ones they rolled out along with their inflatable kiddy pool.Quote: NathanI personally tried the "Find my phone," test and it said my phone was somewhere around my area but didn't tell the exact house. Come to think of it, Rob Singer probably has it (-;

Parents don't need to communicate with their children 24/7, especially while in school.
Problem solved!
Replace the phones with guns, especially while in school.Quote: TigerWuParents don't need to communicate with their children 24/7, especially while in school.
