There are a lot of gaming articles published every day, but no real place to look for them here unless the individual article is worth its own thread. So here's a place for the miscellaneous item. Comments welcome on any article.

I don't see any mention of the property in Las Vegas. That's not owned by the same group that owned the Laughlin, Tahoe, and AC properties?

There was some legal brouhaha years ago between the companies ownership of the name if i recall
The end result was Tropicana LV could retain its name but not open any other casinos under that name in any other jurisdictions

This was a speaker's comment made at a recent business meeting. Its obvious the speaker is not fully familiar with the incident and it should be remembered that it took place some years ago.Quote: beachbumbabs
A "network surveillance" program (ie, spyware) detected the unusual traffic (assisted by artificial intelligence) wherein a great many text files and spreadsheets were being sent to the new Aquarium's control module. So the program notified the Network Administrator of the casino that the aquarium was doing more than sampling water salinity and sending it to the specialized maintenance company.
Many networks are thought to be safe but any connection is vulnerable. One network was air-gapped, ie, no internet connection at all. Then someone upgraded a printer driver and the program never disconnected from the internet. Someone found it and got into the super secure system.

No, not really. My intent was to put smaller items of interest here, rather than starting a new thread for each. That previous individual thread slipped my reading: hadn't gotten there. I would guess the transaction deserved its own, I just saw the blurb, thought the article was short but had some new info, and posted it.

Just a little tidbt not deserving of a separate thread:
That Minnesota woman who shot her husband and fled to warmer climates later killing a look-alike woman so as to steal her identity won $1500.00 in a Louisiana casino and used her real name to collect it. She was later arrested at a resort on South Padre Island.

Sale of Illinois third most lucrative casino to Nevada based entity will mean an over three million dollar windfall for gubernatorial candidate Pritzker and will relieve him of a potential conflict of interest problem if he does get sworn in as governor in January.
All other major gambling states prohibit a governor from holding any interest in a licensed gaming facility but Illinois happens not to have such a law.
