Making a new thread in response to Steeldco as prognosticator*, and making it a poll, here is the real question:

Do you believe as an investor that market timing, to whatever degree, is a good practice for investors? You can pick more than one item in the poll.

By degree I mean those who do 'sometimes' as opposed to 'always'. For example when I was younger I would do market timing, market low, when buying, but would try not to sell at high market [no need to sell then for cash]. Now I am just a rebalance guy, which actually is similar to market timing if you ask me.

the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder
