We saw an excellent magician on a Holland America cruise this week, JAMES CIELEN.
I thought it was interesting that I had never heard of him before, since we have been going to Vegas for years and seeing a variety of shows over that time. He has a crowd pleasing gimmick with a couple of Pomeranians which set him apart from the crowd of Las Vegas Magician wannabees, at least in my mind.
If he takes a break from the cruise ship circuit and ends up doing some shows in Vegas, I can definitely recommend him.

There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts
They just want to steal us all and take us all apart

No 'casino conditions' report?
No win/loss report?
No funny stories?
Well, I guess a story about a funny guy will have to do.
You could say which ship from what port to what destinations. I haven't been on Holland America yet, which means Sparkles is prolly shopping their website as we speak ;-)
Youuuuuu MIGHT be a 'rascal' if.......(nevermind ;-)...2F

Well, since you asked !
casino conditions
They had the typical 6/5 variations of blackjack, but to their credit, they also had one table of Real Blackjack rules, 8 deck, hand shuffled.
No win/loss report?
About even, thanks to a decent hit on Slots by Mrs. Q on the last day.
No funny stories?
Sorry.
which ship from what port to what destinations.
Westerdam, Alaska Inside Passage, round trip out of Seattle. I definitely recommend this itinerary. Glacier Bay is the highlight of the itinerary, although the whale watching excursion (we booked ours in town, not through the ship to save about 30 %) out of Juneau was also cool.
Most surprising things
+++ EMP Museum in Seattle, very cool ! We did the "Sound Stage" where you create your own band and play along with a recorded soundtrack. A poster and DVD was about $ 25.
+++ Ship-board entertainment was very good. There was a very cool mash-up of Alice in Wonderland/Little Red Riding Hood/Snow White with the vocalists doing versions of U2/Talking Heads/Duran Duran/Doors/Pink/Etc. The set on the stage used moving billboard sized LED screens.
- - - Basic maintenance on the ship was either not done, or had been done poorly. Nothing safety related or anything like that, but they had definitely stopped caring a long time ago. We had been hoping that Holland America would have been on the opposite side of the spectrum. Oh well.
- - - The taxi system at Pier 91 after the cruise was chaotic. No system, no organization, no line, LOTS of frustration. I had time at the airport so I did call the Port of Seattle phone # and shared my observations with them (constructively).
+++ Cheap airfare from Seattle to Las Vegas on SPIRIT, so we are now here for a few days.
+++ Got a great comp'd suite at one of the CZR Strip properties.
