Canadian Lottery tonight 649.....pick 6 numbers out of 49 was worth about $13,000,000
so many LOW numbers came up tonight that people that picked all the right numbers are not going to believe what they won

thats why i never played those "popular" numbers.
there was a similar story in HK. I forgot what the numbers were but is like 8,18,28, 5, 15, 25, etc., anyway, you know what i mean.
there was like literally dozens of 1st prize winners to share the jackpot and each got about what normally a 2nd or third prize would pay.
so while you cannot increase the chance of winning, you can definitely increase the winning amount by avoiding popular numbers.

Exactly, they have $1.6 million reasons to question your logic.
I would rather be lucky and win a -ev bet than lose a +ev bet.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.
