The actual link posted is literally example.com
Looks like op took the example too seriously
As I mentioned in the other thread, the proposed Wynn site is mere miles from where I currently live. In fact the mayor of my town has blocked development based on increased traffic through our town with no benefit.
Quote: BleedingChipsSlowlyIntended link Proposals for two casinos eight miles apart, one tribal, one state owned.
Where'd you get the 8 miles figure from? That doesn't appear in the article and based on a cursory google search - Brockton (proposed commercial site) and Taunton (proposed tribal site) are 28 miles apart.
someone forgot to point out to the Mayor the increased spending on gas, food, alcohol, and lodging in his little Hamlet, which would be good for the local economy (not to mention the taxes collected on that increase). Add in the potential for a speed trap or two, some revenue from DUI arrests, and it starts to look like a no-brainer ;-)Quote: AcesAndEightsFinally read the article. Interesting.

I misspoke. (I love the way politicians use that word when they're wrong, so I'm going to use it, too.) I found the article I had read that described the distance as "about the same as between Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun," which is about 8 miles. On further research I find the distance is 14.3 driving miles according to Google Maps and around 13 miles "as the crow flies." You can verify the distance for yourself with your favorite mapping app using 20 Summer Street, Taunton (Liberty and Union Industrial Park) and 600 Belmont Street, Brockton (Brockton Fairgrounds).Quote: AcesAndEightsQuote: BleedingChipsSlowlyIntended link Proposals for two casinos eight miles apart, one tribal, one state owned.

1/3-mile from the high school, what could possibly go wrong? Students walk home right by the fairgrounds, the proposed site.Quote: TwoFeathersATLsomeone forgot to point out to the Mayor the increased spending on gas, food, alcohol, and lodging in his little Hamlet, which would be good for the local economy (not to mention the taxes collected on that increase). Nice, makes sense. I just googled between the two towns because I didn't bother looking for the exact addresses of the proposed sites.
