Looking for advice on all of it. What would be a good buy-in, what level($) slot, want to ask host for a glass of champagne for attendees (it will be on my players card), if W2g is earned should full taxes be taken out? Anything else I have not thought of..... I know there are VMBers out there have put together events like this and other events(trying to come with other ideas for events) and would love any and all input and ideas for other events. All advice is is welcome as are ideas for events
Quote: WizardofnothingI'm sure it's just different terminology but what is. 40-60 person slot pull ?
Sounds like a social event ... some sort of affinity group showing up for a "private" slot tournament at a casino?
/pureguessmode.
THE CASINO SHOULD PROVIDE A 5754 FOR GROUP TAXABLE SITUATIONS.
Is there a slut pool too?.;-)Quote: rsactuarya slot pull? or a slot pool? Answer might differ depending on answer.

Now we're talking!
I was gonna suggest something for the Spring Fling that I heard about, but have no details:
Slot Races...
1. Wov east, each person could buy shares. Shares were maybe $50 each. We played a slot at approx $10 per spin. Goal was to go broke or get a hand pay. There were a few other details that were not the norm and I can't really post that here.
2. I had 36 people each put up $100. We played a $5 wof 2 credit game. Our goal was to go brokenor double the money. It took way too long. We should have been doing a higher limit. We ended up stopping at around 2k because it took us about 90 minutes to get there.
3. On the cruise we had 12 people put up $40 each. We played $5 VP and ended up hitting a 4oak for $625 very early so we decided to stop and we each got $90 back.
Here are my thoughts if I ever did a large one again.
1. Make a contract for everyone to sign..with that many people involved it is way too easy to have a dispute after the fact. The contract should outline cost, which games will be played at what denom, when you will stop (broke or x$), how taxes would be handled if need be. Will you split it or will 1 person take control of taxes. If so the casino should deduct those right away. Who's players card will be used. Basically outline everything and make people sign it.
2. Don't just charge a certain $. Break it into shares. Maybe make the share $50 but people can buy anything including half a share. Makes accounting a little tougher but some people would be willing to buy 4 shares. Someone may be willing to spend less in which they couldn't play if it were too high. Just make sure everyone understands that it is not being split by number of people. It will be split by number of shares and people will get paid according to how many shares they buy.
3. Allow proxy buyers. Sometimes people are willing to buy shares but don't want to be there to watch it.
4 make sure the casino is ok with 40 people standing around a machine. We had security bother us when we did it with 36 people. We had 32 actually there at the beginning.
5. Work out a payment for your time. I think .5 share is acceptable to be paid for your time in setting this up.
.5 share to the guy running it? WTF so you want me to pay you for setting up something that is supposed to in theory lose me money? Borderline system seller me thinks.Quote: GWAEI have been part of 3 slot pulls. Here are my experiences.

Let me guess you want 33% for jackpots and since your spinning you will be using your card ;)

It is actually a pain in the ass to set up one of these. The one I ran I didn't take any payment but we did use my players card so I got points and some offers from it.
For the record it annoys the crap out of me when someone has 20 percent of their posts as a new thread and doesn't even come back to their thread to discuss the thing they wanted to discuss. Just sayin.
That's a nice gig. However I'm not sure why a group of people would want to do this (perhaps if megabucks were up really high).Quote: GWAEIt is actually a pain in the ass to set up one of these. Axel, sometimes you gotta stop thinking ad an AP. Remember most people go to Vegas for an experience and do things that you can't do at home.
When we did it, no one in the group could afford to play a high limit slot so it gives everyone the excitement of hitting a 200k jackpot.
That's what lottery tickets are for.Quote: GWAEAxel, sometimes you gotta stop thinking ad an AP. Remember most people go to Vegas for an experience and do things that you can't do at home.

Everyone can just use their share to play Megabucks or whatever for themselves with some agreement to share any large jackpots.
If I'm putting up gambling money I'm going to want to do the gambling myself.

At least the slot is still only holding 10% opposed to mega at 50%. Don't get me wrong this is not something I would do often but once every few years just as something fun to do with friends. We drink and have a good time doing it. We are only talking 50 or 100 so it's not like we are spending 1k each.
So there you, whoever you are. Don't get mad at the list, go look in the mirror?Quote: mason2386I am sorry it annoys the crap out of you that I have 20% of my posts as a new thread and that my personal life precludes me coming back to the board to discuss my issue/question. I apprectiate your input on the work a slot pulls and glad you have offered the information you have offered and am now having to re-evaluate if I have the time to put together. I tend to be a person that asks questions and listen to the words that are offered. I will try to be more responsive to any questions asked as time allows me.
