This is a spin off of the "You might not be an AP if..." Thread, but this one is not a contest, just general gambling chat. :)

With all due respect, that is something that happens to slot AP's every now and then, as is, 'Spending,' more than that. As long as you are Expected to spend less than that, you're doing it right.

I'm implying that you are not a great gambler because you only broke even if you hit the Progressive only to get exactly what you put in the machine in the first place. :)

And again there are many +EV opportunities that you actually lose more than the jackpot simply because you ran bad, either on the drop or because it went more than one cycles, it's very common. However, the next time you play the progressive you might hit it on the first spin.
If you have an advantage and play enough everything average out and you'll make a profit.

You might not be the greatest gambler if your EV for your gambling trip including tipping is only around -$50 but you spend 4 times that much to travel and stay there. [that would be me btw LOL]

I will say I am fully aware of the EV cost, (Craps is still -EV, anyway, right?) and based on that cost, it increases my enjoyment of the game enough that I've no problem doing it.

I definitely laughed!
I think the silliest bet I ever made was when I was way...way...ahead and for my last bet (Other than PL + Odds I had) I said, " Hop everything with a three in it," and tossed in $6. First, they couldn't quite understand what I actually wanted. Second, for some reason, they wouldn't allow the 3-4 Hop, so I had 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-5 and 3-6.
The point was six, and the Hard Six Hop came in...it still would have been worth the one time only laugh if I lost just making such a bizarre bet.
Other than that, just Line, Odds, Crap Check and 6&8 for me.

How odd. Occasionally I've been known to ("I've got a feeling...") toss $3 in the middle and yell out, "Hop the reds." ($1 each on 1-6, 2-5, & 3-4) It gets you an extra $1 (at the 15 to 1 joints, that is) if it comes vs. a $3 Any Seven bet.) But yes, I agree that part of the fun of craps is being able to shout out things that are meaningful at the table, but incomprehensible to the rest of the world.

Once in a while, if I have a come bet for the boys for $5, I might say, "Put some shoes on it" as I toss out a buck or two if the roll isn't 6 or 8. (Insider zuke speak.)

How about -
"You might not be the greatest gambler if you bet an equal amount on Black and Red on the roulette table - just for the sake of upping your average bet for comps and forget about the possibility of hitting 0 or 00." (or if you thought chasing comps was a good idea in this instance)
