You might not be the greatest Gambler if you spend $400 of your own money to get a $400 Progressive. :P

With all due respect, that is something that happens to slot AP's every now and then, as is, 'Spending,' more than that. As long as you are Expected to spend less than that, you're doing it right.
You might not be an AP if you made that commentQuote: KentryI'm implying that you are not a great gambler because you only broke even if you hit the Progressive only to get exactly what you put in the machine in the first place. :)
And again there are many +EV opportunities that you actually lose more than the jackpot simply because you ran bad, either on the drop or because it went more than one cycles, it's very common. However, the next time you play the progressive you might hit it on the first spin.
If you have an advantage and play enough everything average out and you'll make a profit.
*Face palm*Quote: KentryIf you lose $400 and get it back with the $400 Progressive, you are not the greatest Gambler. Maybe I should have said "lose," in the first post. ;)
better yet

On a side note I think I do believe all your stories.

Put the gun away.
It is not that bad.....
Face palm is sufficient.
Whose head was that anyway ;-)

I hate it when that happens!
Quote: GreasyjohnYou might not be the greatest gambler if when placing a pass line bet at Craps you bet "any craps" to "insure" you don't lose on the come out.
Guilty.
I will say I am fully aware of the EV cost, (Craps is still -EV, anyway, right?) and based on that cost, it increases my enjoyment of the game enough that I've no problem doing it.
$5 Pass, $1 Crap Check...lol...I also like bellowing, "CRAP CHECK!!!"
There is something quite appealing about yelling out stuff on a craps table lol. Get nice and shined up... "Give me a two way box cars, hard 6 & 8, hop the 9 and give me a C & E... PAPA'S COMIN' OUT!"Quote: Mission146....$5 Pass, $1 Crap Check...lol...I also like bellowing, "CRAP CHECK!!!"

I definitely laughed!
I think the silliest bet I ever made was when I was way...way...ahead and for my last bet (Other than PL + Odds I had) I said, " Hop everything with a three in it," and tossed in $6. First, they couldn't quite understand what I actually wanted. Second, for some reason, they wouldn't allow the 3-4 Hop, so I had 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-5 and 3-6.
The point was six, and the Hard Six Hop came in...it still would have been worth the one time only laugh if I lost just making such a bizarre bet.
Other than that, just Line, Odds, Crap Check and 6&8 for me.
How odd. Occasionally I've been known to ("I've got a feeling...") toss $3 in the middle and yell out, "Hop the reds." ($1 each on 1-6, 2-5, & 3-4) It gets you an extra $1 (at the 15 to 1 joints, that is) if it comes vs. a $3 Any Seven bet.) I've never had a dealer reject this.Quote: Mission146for some reason, they wouldn't allow the 3-4 Hop
But yes, I agree that part of the fun of craps is being able to shout out things that are meaningful at the table, but incomprehensible to the rest of the world.
Oh, hey, back OT, I might not be the best gambler because... I'll hop the reds when "I've got a feeling!"
Quote: MBYou might not be the greatest gambler when you stand on a soft 16 because "you have a feeling".
Yeah, but you definetly stand at soft 17 ;)
Not a bad return on your money. You just have to figure out how to do that 30x a day and you're in.Quote: KentryYou might not be the greatest Gambler if you consider playing $1 of your own money and walking out with $9 of House money a big win. LOL.
Quote: KentryYou might not be the greatest Gambler if you lost roughly half your paycheck in a Casino. ;)
I'm confused again, imagine that! Was that the 'around $250' paycheck, or the '$250 is half my paycheck' paycheck. Pls clarify.

I bumped this cause I thought Ken Try might have missed the question. And I was really looking forward to the answer. Apologies to all, except Kentry...

Hey you mean need to advance and active?
"You might not be the greatest gambler if you bet an equal amount on Black and Red on the roulette table - just for the sake of upping your average bet for comps and forget about the possibility of hitting 0 or 00." (or if you thought chasing comps was a good idea in this instance)
